Nossa Familia Coffee began in 2004 with Augusto Carneiro, an avid cyclist and mechanical engineer who moved to Portland for university. As a child back home in Brazil, Augusto worked on his family's coffee farm. After a few years working as an engineer, he decided it was time for a change and brought his family's coffee to Portland. Focusing on his network and relationships, Nossa Familia Coffee was officially in business.
That emphasis on building relationships and growing the community remains the guiding force behind Nossa Familia Coffee's evolution from local to global. Sourcing the world's best coffee from farmers and suppliers beyond Brazil, Nossa Familia Coffee is Oregon's first Certified B Corp coffee roaster with two cozy cafes, a roastery, and an expanding wholesale operation. Nossa's Giveback Program is another platform through which they focus on community building by donating 1% of their gross annual profits to nonprofits that work to alleviate poverty and improve the livelihoods of people locally and in coffee-growing countries.
