Continental Grand Prix 5000 Road Tire

These tires feel faster and hold up better than any other tire I've ridden yet. All time fave.

I've been a Conti 5000 tire user for longer than I remember now. I have a 20yr old Trek 1200 road bike. I weigh 230. I get the most miles on tires now than ever. I know a bunch of technology improvements have happened in 20yrs, but I'm sold on this tire. Running over gravel in the road? All's good. Tight corner on sticky blacktop on a sunny 90-plus day? All's good. Poorly chip sealed and worn road by the local DOT? Well... it'll still be a high vibration surface. I'll be back for more when the time is right.

I've been riding these tires for years, nothing else even comes close to their riding comfort, their durability and great looks.

Continental tires have always been my performance tire of choice since my racing days back in the early 1980's. They continue to focus on providing the best tires for cycling enthusiasts. The GP 5000 is light, lively, responsive and resistant to punctures. Great tire if you want to get the most out of your cycling. I run Continentals on all nine of my bikes.

This is the 3rd set of this tire I have purchased. Two for my wife and one set for me. Easy to install, run fast and puncture resistant.

I've been using Conti GP tires since 2012 and have loved them ever since. The roll incrediby fast with some of the best in class rolling resistance ratings. Many folks just think of straight line speed, but these tires definitely improve climbing ability as well. They provide great cornering, giving you all the confidence you need to take those fast tight corners. I have tried a few others, but honestly, I went back to the Contis well before those "other brands" had completed their useful lifespan. Just dont waste time and money on other tires, go with these.

These tires roll easier than any other tires I have used. They are also very puncture resistant. I have noticed that the back tire seems to lock up easier.

I read reviews for this tire and have used these now for several years. I am just a casual rider but do ride about 4000 miles a year. They last very long but I get pretty excited when it's time to swap them out and put on a new set. They seem to grip super well and are fast enough for me that gives a smooth ride. Overall well built and very enjoyable!

I've been riding Conti's for about 10 years now; clinchers with tubes. I got occasional flats but, and it may be luck, haven't had a flat now for almost 3 years and 7K miles. It may be that going to wider tires (I'm now on 30's) and lower tire pressures (now at 60 & 65) result in fewer flats? Conti's have a reputation for being hard to mount. This was true on my 21mm internal alloy wheels. But, I am able to mount the 30's on Vision carbon wheels using only my hands. So, it seems the right combination of wheel and tire make a difference. I got about 3K on size 25mm but am getting more than that since upsizing. They roll nicely on the Vision wheels with Silca TPU tubes; low rolling resistance and reliable combo.

Great tires last a while

These are the best riding tires on the market. I pair them with TPU tubes. Unlike a tubeless tire, if I get a flat I can change to a new tube and be back on the road in 5 minutes.

Like everything these days, these tires are too expensive, but BTD helps to cushion the shock a little. Everybody can't be wrong.....these are great tires. I ride on rough, dirty city streets, and these handle the hazards as well as any tire can.

I've used these tires for years. They are a little pricey but they last a long time and are puncture resistant.

I've been riding Continental GPs for a long time. I find them to be fast, durable and grippy in dry or wet conditions. Being an old horse (72) I don't race as much as I did but I'm training daily and the current GP5000 are great all round high performance tires!

Great tire ' smoother ride and me thinks faster!

I have been using the Grand Prix series of tires (Grand Prix, GP2000, GP3000, GP4000 and 4000S II, and now GP5000) since 1994 when they were original equipment on my Cannondale. Originally 23mm wide, of course, then 25mm and now mostly 28mm. I consider myself an enthusiast - not a racer, but a relatively high mileage (8,500 miles this year) rider including local shop rides, fondos, and longer solo rides. The GP5000 tires are ideal for my "best" bike, for the more ambitious rides - fast, good ride quality, reasonable wear and reliable. I use cheaper, more durable tires on other bikes, for shorter, local rides, errands, etc., and the difference in speed and comfort is obvious to me (and to Strava).

Like everyone else, my email is full of great deals on everything bike related. But when I check the reviews of other equivalent tires vs. the GP5000s, I don't see any reason to switch. Everything else is typically slower, and not offering any benefits in return for higher rolling resistance.

I am finding that current production runs are truer to size than they were a few years ago - I'm seeing maybe 28.4mm width on a 28C tire, on 18mm internal width rims where some older tires would be closer to 30mm.

I've had good service experience with several sets of GP5000 clinchers from 28mm to 32mm in width. More durable than Vittoria Corsas in my experience. Bead diameter is very consistent across individual tires...so if one fits well on your wheels, subsequent ones will too. If you are coming from the old Conti GP 4000sII, please note that a 25C GP4000sII has roughly the same tire width mounted as a 28C GP5000. Continental did adjust their width sizing between the two models.

Great rolling resistance. Bicycle rolling resistance tests this tire as one of the best, but unlike the competition at the top of the chart, it still has great grip and puncture protection.

I ride 28mm size on my road bike and 32mm (Now running the 35mm AS version) on my commuter for faster commutes. My commute goes through an industrial area and the debris on the road is insane. I had some Vittoria tires puncture multiple times before going back to my trusty Conti GP5000 tires.

I am an avid road cyclist that puts in an average of 200 miles a week on my bike. These tires have been my rock solid choice for years. Long lasting, near puncture proof and provided me a nice degree of security on the road. Love the nice cream side wall color on my solid black bike frame!
