The Ultimate Road Racing Wheelset
Zipp's 454 NSW Tubeless Disc-brake is the ultimate road racing wheelset — it delivers everything the performance cyclist demands.
It's aerodynamically efficient and stable in all wind conditions. What's more, the 454 NSW has a wider rim that's designed for running lower pressure tubeless tires (for reduced rolling resistance and vibration damping), so you'll lose as little energy as possible out on the road. This wheelset is optimized for 25mm tubeless tires for all-out speed.
The 454 NSW features Zipp's most advanced technologies. Its undulating 58mm Sawtooth rim shape with Hyperfoils is our most aerodynamic and stable wheel in the 404 family. The 454 NSW Tubeless Disc-Brake wheelset is roughly a pound (more than 400 grams) lighter than its predecessor!
Zipp's use of hookless (straight side) rims in the 454 NSW is integral to Making You Faster. With hookless, the transition between the tire and the rim is more seamless and aero. Zipp's hookless rims have more efficient resin distribution, which means lighter, stronger wheels.
Outdoor testing commissioned by Zipp revealed the real-world gains of Zipp Total System Efficiency (TSE). A bike-and-rider system weighing 85kg (187lbs) on the new 454 NSW with 25mm tires required 278 watts to maintain a speed of 40kph. That's a 10-watt saving compared with the previous model 454 NSW.
At the center of the 454 NSW is the Cognition V2 Hubset re-engineered with an updated Axial Clutch V2 mechanism for quicker engagement, lower friction, and improved durability.

Reviews
The Cognition hub is the first thing I noticed while riding. I find it very quiet and pleasing when free wheeling. The hub engages better than any I've used. You'll notice it. Tubeless is king for comfort and better ride. I'm looking forward to spending more time with tree wheels.
I first tried the 303 Firecrests and hated them but I may have gotten a bad wheelset as they were very twitchy over 20mph in any crosswinds. I then tried the Enve 4.5 ARs but my tires were consistently losing a lot of air quickly, even with Enve tires. Overall, they held speed great and were comfortable with a 28/30 combo.
I then got the 454s to try. I dropped the PSI 2 more than Zipp's calculator and they are close to the comfort of the Enve's but they corner much better and they hold speed as well or better. They biggest difference is faster engagement and they climb better - things I didn't know I was missing out on with the Enve's.
