Reviews
I've used only Marathon Plus tires on my recumbent bike for 10+ years, riding about 1500 miles per year, and they have never let me down, even when I've accidentally run over glass and debris. One tire did fail over time due to a manufacturing defect (a weak spot corresponding to where the internal barcode is printed) that caused the sidewall to separate and puff out, but Schwalbe replaced that tire under warranty with no hassle, even with several thousand miles on it, and they also gave me 50% off a second tire to complete the set. Always refreshing to have a product that WORKS with good customer service backing it up.
The last thing I want to do on a bike commute to work is to stop to fix a flat. I have used Schwalbe Marathon tires for 15 years and have been consistently impressed with their puncture resistance, durability, and quality. This tire is no exception. Highly recommended.
I say tough but smooth because where I live is desert country where mother nature's creations can turn into an obstacle, goat head thorns ,bougainvillea spikes, Palm fronds with shark like teeth along with the usual broken glass and nails and screws. Having a tire like this helps me to travel without much worry. I use my bike to carry what can be carried, loads of up to forty pounds. So because of these tires I feel I've gotten my money's worth and a smooth ride.
I use these tires on all my bicycles. They lower the number of flats I encounter. Just the time savings of not having to fix as many flats make these tires a good investment. On a 2,400 mile fully loaded touring trip before I knew about these tires, I had 8 flats. On a similar trip the next year using these tires, I only had one flat. Because of their reliability, I no longer carry a spare tire with me when I take my bicycle on long distance tours. These are my standard every day tires. I highly recommend them.
We installed the 26x1.75 tires on our DaVinci tandem in preparation for riding the C&O Canal. We were looking for a tire that would be good for the weight and service of a tandem on rough and uneven surfaces.
The tread is an aggressive touring type that should be good on a variety of surfaces.
We have not ridden the C&O yet, but we have been putting on some miles on rough roads and some dirt path trails with good result. The ride is smooth and stable.
Very pleased with this tire.
I have put over 300 miles on these tires with absolutely no problems. I am using them on an electric bike most on bike paths and streets. I highly recommend them to other e-bikers. Good traction and no flats, which I was getting on the bike's original equipment on the same terrain.
Excellent tire, long wearing on e=bike, good puncture resistance even on desert roads with lots of cactus thorns. Initially ordered incorrect 26 size in error. BikeTiresDirect resolved the issue by sending a replacement and crediting the shipping charge. I pointed out to the customer rep that the listing should be clearer about sizing. Excellent customer service!
I love these tires. I was getting flats twice a week from puncture vines and other thorns. I tried slime inner tubes, which were okay, but still not preventing flats. I needed something reliable since I am commuting to work. Also I have been riding in temperatures as low as -15C / 5F, and I really didn't want to be changing a tire in those conditions. I have now been riding on these tires for about a month and have not had any problems. They are completely worth the upfront cost. I also like the tread and the reflective band around the wheel. If it helps, I mostly ride on pavement, but I also live a short ways down a gravel road and these tires work just fine on gravel.
This tire is being used on a commercial e-bike. This tire is used because of its toughness. It has had no flats and is wearing well. It replaced an identical tire on which the tread got thin.
We ride Catrike 559 about 30 miles daily. The bikes came with Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires and they have proven to be the best choice available. The tires provide long wear, good puncture resistance and a smooth ride. There are cheaper tires on the market, which I discovered during the supply chain problems, but you get what you pay for. I'll stick with Schwalbe.
I ride mostly on paved roads but they are in very poor condition, bad pot holes and lots of debris. Here in the mountains of N. New Mexico, the goat head weed is our state tree. Hombres routinely throw their empties out on the way home from work causing glass on the roads. I haven't had a flat from goat heads or broken bottles with these tires. they last for 2000 miles. They stick in the corners and do well at 60psi. They cost little more but are worth every penny.
These tires are great. I have been using Schwables exclusively for the last 15 years on all my bikes. I know they are good, because the Dutch remember the Germans invading Netherlands. However in spite of that , the only tires you can buy in Netherlands are Schwables. They also love the Rohloff hubs, which I also have on my recumbent Hase Trike along with the 20 x 1.75 inch and 16 x 1.75 tires. You need to add to the description, bicycle vehiclist which I have been since 1985. A bicycle vehiclist owns no car and does everything by bike, most people do with their cars. My cargo bike can carry passengers and has as much floor space as a BMW motorcycle. It has electric assist for use on the steep hills here. I do use public transportation, but unfotrunately Amtrak will not take recumbents which are my most favorite bike to tour with.
I ride 10,000 miles a year, don't use a car, and ride year-round. I use bikes for fitness, transportation, and emotional joy riding in wilderness on and off-road. I switched to wide 2 inch tires 5 years ago for the road, no longer use my standard 700c x 25mm. Now I ride 26x2 for comfort, speed and thick casings. Finding a "truly" flat resistant tire for a bicycle is almost impossible, and then add quality (round and true) and it was impossible...until the Schwalbe. The PLUS tire been on my bike for 2 years now, with one flat, the wear rate is low and the corner gripping good. I am now replacing all my bike tires with Schwalbe. I ride the road in the mountains, safety is my #1 concern, 40mph descents on tires if punctured and blow out is not safe. I feel confident in the Schwalbe for these descents. This year I added SlimeTubes to my Schwalbe for even more protection and automatic repair on the road, without stopping.
I used the Schwalbe Marathon Plus 26" tire on my last two rides across America. Each ride starts at the Capital Building in Salem Oregon and ends at the Capital Building in Washington DC. 3300 miles of touring and 700 miles of training (in one year) on the same set of tires. Only one flat tire in two years. I'm currently training on last years tires and I'll replace them with a new set of Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires (HS 440) before I leave this spring on my third ride across America. GREAT TIRE
I have used this product for many years for commuting, regular riding, and touring. It is very sturdy and has very significantly reduced flats. The time that it saves me for not having to fix flats is great. This is my tire of choice. I recommend it for regular riding, commuting, and touring.
I use the Schwalbe Marathon Plus on my commute-utility bike. I ride it between 5,000 and 6,000 miles per year. This tire is the best I've found after experimenting for years. High Mileage. High Flat Resistance. Reasonable Price. Minimal weight penalty. An all-around great product. (Note Additionally, I run a double dose of Green Slime in each tube. I'd rather get a tiny bit more exercise by using heavier tires and tubes than deal with a flat when I'm in a hurry to get to where I'm going.)
