Description

Maxxis' Minion DHR II Plus 3C/EXO/TR 29+ Tire offers great traction and cornering grip on loose and muddy trails. Paddle knobs down the center reduce rolling resistance and increase braking effectiveness. Especially while on steep terrain, the paddle knobs allow harder braking in the rear, maintaining balance as the high volume casing absorbs trail irregularities. EXO puncture protection is a cut- and abrasion-resistant material integrated into the sidewalls. It's densely woven yet light and flexible, making it ideal on rocky terrain. 3C MaxxTerra compound is soft, offering more traction, better treadwear, and less rolling resistance.

Features & Specs:

  • Excellent braking & cornering traction.

  • 3C MaxxTerra compound.
  • Tubeless ready.
  • 120 TPI.

Fits my trek rail 7

I just installed my second oversize Maxis on the rear of my trek rail seven. I have one on the front also. My bike came with a 2.6 but this 3.0 fits fine. I like the way it floats on sand, almost a fat tire.

Like riding on a pillow with Sharp Edges

Absorbs the chatter and rocks like a pillow, while holding it's edge super well going full speed through corners. I've never ridden with my body parallel to the ground through berms before until these tires. 100% recommended, even for non-mountain riders like myself.

Note - I did combine them with the Rimpact EDH wheel insert, which adds additional edge control during hard cornering. Highly recommended combination too.

Made my Trek Stache one mean machine!

Got these to replace my stock Chupacabras on my Trek Stache 5. I ride a lot of more technical trails that are either dry and sandy or muddy as heck. I noticed a difference immediately vs the stock tires in regards cornering and overall handling. I can really duck into corners now without feeling any slipping and I feel like the whole bike sticks to the ground a little better. In the mud, they keep me upright most of the time. If I hit a curve with some thick mud, they give me an extra second or two to catch myself before I eat it. With my Chupas, I would be on my face before I could get a foot out. They do get HEAVY in mud as they really cake and hold it. Overall, love the tire. Pump it up for mud and keep it squishy for dryer conditions and rocks. It also makes my bike look MEAN!

Embrace the knob

People are generally shocked when they see these massive DH tires on my hardtail. The trails I frequent are super loose and sandy, these make navigating the sketchy stuff sooo much easier than the factory Bontragers my rig came with. Even tho I'm riding a lot lower pressure than most (plus), the hold up on tight turns and repel the occasional sharp rock with no issues.

Grippy!

Used as a rear 29+ tire for my rigid Jones to ride the rooty leaf covered slippery goodness of a PNW winter. The 3" width gives a bit of comfort, but still loads of traction
