Description

Continental's SUV All-Around Tire — Rural To Urban, On & Off Road

Introducing the Continental Ruban. This tire is designed to meet the needs of people who ride on both singletrack and pavement, all in the same journey. The Ruban takes its roots from mountain biking — with its grippy width, aggressive side lugs, and wide profile, this tire can easily be mistaken for a pure mountain bike tire. It also comes tubeless-ready, which is also a key factor of any MTB bicycle tire. Unlike traditional MTB tires, though, which can lose speed on asphalt, the Ruban has an energy-saving center tread pattern. Instead of feeling like you are plodding through mud, the Ruban helps you pedal easily and quickly on paved surfaces.

The Ruban is ideal for an urban commuter or bikepacker, who may find themselves sometimes on a park trail and sometimes in bike lanes moving with traffic.

The Ruban is equipped with excellent tire technology: First, it has the PureGrip Rubber Compound for high grip and long-lasting durability. And second, the ShieldWall System provides an additional puncture protection layer, consisting of a finely woven cross fabric. And third, it is tubeless-ready, which allows you to run lower pressures without fear of a pinch flat — and of course, you don't have to worry about tubes!

Features

  • PureGrip Rubber Compound
  • Tubeless-Ready
  • Shieldwall Puncture Protection
  • Aggressive side lugs for corning grip
  • Fast-rolling centerline tread

Great allrounder tire but with quality control issues

I received 5 Continental tires, (2) 29x2.3's and (3) 29x2.6's that were all the same model (Ruban Shieldwall). All 3 29x2.6's had really bad casing wobbles, way beyond the slight wobble that 95% of tires, even Rene Herse tires have. These are the Shieldwall tires that were made in Continental's China factory- never had an issue with the German made Conti's. (Bike mechanic for 45 years, built dozens of wheels, mounted hundreds of tires- yes I can properly seat a tire, and spot a bad tire.) The first tire was replaced promptly, no questions asked. I hope that I can get the others refunded or replaced, also. That said, the tires, while heavy for their size, have plenty of grip in the dirt, and are really, really quiet on the pavement, which is what I got them for- a true allrounder tire. I plan on setting up tubeless, but haven't done it yet, so I can't comment on that.

I've ordered many other tires from this company in the past with prompt delivery and no issues.

Great tire

Using these on a gravel bike (front and rear 29 x 2.1). Great cornering. Durable (have about 300 miles on them now) with a little sign of wear, but still seems to grip relatively well. Have yet to flat, despite plenty of thorns, etc (running tubeless). Have used on road/gravel/light offroad (mtn bike trails w/ sharp rocks). Roll nicely on all terrain.

Awesome Trail-Dirt-Gravel-Pavement Plus Tire

I was looking for an all around tire that could get me easily down hard surface roads yet work well on loose or soft single track, and nearly everything in between. Ruban fit that need. It really rocks all legs of my routes. Very satisfied with this tire. Great value for the price.

fast rolling, decent grip

These tires work well for a mix of hardpack and loose terrain. They've even handled a bit of snow and ice well.

Smooth ride on pavement, hard pack single and double track

Smooth ride with MTB tires on pavement, hardpack. Haven't tried sand or mud, but I don't ride a lot of that stuff. Haven't tried high speed cornering yet, but should be OK with aggressive side lugs. Haven't tried real technical stuff. They are nice tires for what I normally ride.
