The Next Generation Of S-Phyre
The Shimano Men's SH-RC903 S-Phyre Road Shoe is the next generation in ultimate performance. For the new 903s Shimano took the best and made it better, adding more ventilation, a more comfortable fit, and reducing weight.
From the ground up, the 903 starts with the same Shimano ultra stiff carbon sole (12 on their stiffness index) for unrivaled power transfer. For this iteration it's now ventilated at the heel and toe to keep your feet from overheating during your hardest efforts.
The fit is improved with a new 2-way BOA Li2 system to get your precise fit dialed in every time. The lacing has been updated to get you a more secure fit without hot spots, especially on the toe box. Combined with the supportive but flexible microfiber leather upper and redesigned anti-twist heel cup, this shoe is made to keep your feet locked in so you can stay focused on any sprint, climb, or descent you're pushing to the limit.
And with a claimed weight of just 225 grams in a size 42, the 903 comes in at least 10 grams lighter than the 902.
Features:
- Shimano Stiffness Index: 12 Carbon Sole
- Ventilated Toe and Heel
- Dual microadjustable BOA Li2 dials
- Anti-twist heel cup

Reviews
This is a follow-up to an earlier review. Size 46.5 was too small. BTD made the exchange to size 47.0 quick and easy. This is my 1st pair of high-end shoes. Worn them 4 months now. Best I've ever had! Even got them on sale. Thanks BTD.
These are simply amazing shoes. Breathable, light, stiff, and very comfortable. The dual BOAs Li2 allow for a perfect fit without hotspots and allow for micro tightening and loosening. The uppers are soft and there is a decent amount of room in the toe box thus you can go true to size. I am usually a 8.5 Adidas, 9 Nike, or 7.5 dress and my food measures 9.8" thus I try to aim for total length of 10.3"/26.2cm. Shimano's 41.5 fits me spot on and equates to a Men's US 8. The replaceable toe bumpers are a nice touch and the overall construction and materials seem to be top notch. What I am not in love with is the fact that the upper might be too soft and durability wise might not hold up and that bottom isn't bare carbon but rather two jointed halves of the uppers, thus cosmetically keeping this area clean might be troublesome. I am also not in love with the $450 MSRP, granted like many cycling apparel you can find these on sale or wait until the next iteration comes out. I mentioned that these are very cool with all the venting but that also makes these shoes a bad wet and or cold weather shoe, yeah you should buy covers but I am in the camp that a pair of cheap thermal/wet shoes is better than potentially destroying a $450 pair of shoes.
I started racing with Shimano shoes back in the 90's and I returned to them with the first iteration of the 900 series with the 901. It was so comfortable that I decided to get the newest iteration due to some blemishes I had with a crash. This 903 version had the perfect fit with the half size. I had the wide version with the 901 but this wasn't necessary for the 903. The upgraded BOA dials give a snug fit giving my feet a secure enclosure without being restrictive. They worked with both thin and thicker socks. There are two choices with arch support and medium worked for me. White shoes are hard to keep clean. Not sure if I should treat it with a spray. So far, just wiping it with a damp cloth keeps it clean. Here's hoping it stays that way for my racing season this year!
I have worn other Shimano models, Sidi Genius, and Fizik road shoes. All of those shoes were really comfortable and I was happy with my purchases. When I finally went with the Shimano S-Phyre I realized that a better shoe doesn't exist. The S-Phyre is a phenomenal shoe that is worth the price.
Its a very good shoes, good fit. Before this shoes I used sworks vent but this are narrower than shimano and I felt some pressure in the midle of the foot in the external face, but with shimano I dont. Very light and beauty shoes
