Get Wide & Get Rowdy

The well-loved Minion DHF inspired an upgrade, and Maxxis jumped on the wide tire bandwagon to offer up the rear-specific Minion DHR II Wide Trail. It's constructed to improve acceleration and, with its increased width, provide additional support. But, that's not all that improves the speed and nimble handling we've come to expect from Maxxis tires. Ramped and siped tread rolls fast and digs in under braking, along with strategically placed knobs that decorate the center tread.

Cornering, thankfully, becomes a breeze and that added traction inspires confidence on our rides. Further grip comes from running tubeless tires at a lower pressure so we can ride loose surfaces and rainy days without issue. Maxxis' EXO casing guards against punctures and potholes and Dual Compound rubber keeps faster roller in straight lines with less resistance, increasing control while we're riding trails or downhill laps..

The Maxxis Minion DHR II Wide Trail 29 Inch is available in 29 x 2.4 Inch (61-622 ISO). For 29" rims with inner diameters less than 30mm, the 29 x 2.3 inch (58-662 ISO) size is for you Also available in 27.5 x 2.3 inch (60-584 ISO).

Features:

  • 29 x 2.4" folding bead rear-specific MTB tire
  • Wide version optimized for 30-35mm internal rim widths
  • The right tire for loose to medium, wet and dry trails
  • Ramped and siped tread track straight under braking
  • A wider tire increases ruggedness and the ability to handle rough trails
  • Paddle-like knobs are optimally placed on the center tread for control
  • EXO casing protects from punctures and debris
  • Available in 3C MaxxTerra or 3C MaxxGrip casing options
  • 60 TPI
  • Weight: 858g (3C MaxxTerra)

Solid rear tire and super durable

Like their brother the DHF, this is a really good tire for the mixed and gnarly conditions here in the Northeast. I've beaten the snot out of these for - 1,000 miles in the three months I've owned them, and they still look new. No flats, no tread degradation. Overall a good rear tire in everything except deep mud or super hardpack. Climbs well in most any condition except some wet rocky and rooty situations, though even then tire slip is minimal and controllable. I've definitely become a Maxxis fan.

Versatile and easy to mount

The maxxis DHR tire is such a versatile tire you can mount on the front or rear. I mount these on the front with a maxxis rekon on the rear. Although not as grippy as the maxxis DHF or Assegai, they are fast rolling, lighter and still corners well. Oh, they're super easy to set up tubeless.
