Get Plus & Get Rowdy
The well-loved Minion DHF inspired an upgrade, and Maxxis jumped on the plus tire train to offer up the rear-specific Minion DHR II Plus in a 27.5". How cool is that?
The DHR II Plus is constructed to improve acceleration and, with its increased width, provide additional support. But, that's not all that improves the speed and nimble handling we've come to expect from Maxxis tires. Ramped and siped tread rolls fast and digs in under braking, along with strategically placed knobs that decorate the center tread.
Cornering, thankfully, becomes a breeze and that added traction inspires confidence on our rides. Further grip comes from running tubeless tires at a lower pressure so we can ride loose surfaces and rainy days without issue. Maxxis' EXO casing guards against punctures and potholes and Dual Compound rubber keeps faster roller in straight lines with less resistance, increasing control while we're riding trails or downhill laps..
The Maxxis Minion DHR II Plus is available in 27.5 x 2.8 Inch. For standard 29er version, try the 29 x 2.3 inch (58-662 ISO) size is for you Also available in 27.5 x 2.3 inch (60-584 ISO).

Fabulous rear tire, but insist on EXO+ casing for sidewall protection
Rear tire on a 27.5 x 2.8" winter hardtail. With a more limited plus sized tire collection these days, I'm happy this is still available with the better EXO+ casing. It replaces a DHR II that unfortunately only had EXO (not the "+" casing which cut easily on a sharp impact). This casing is holding up well so far. (Keep in mind that the EXO+ casing has nothing to do with this being a "plus" sized tire...). Great grip, predictable cornering, not too draggy slow with the 3C compound.

Awesome traction climbing up and shredding down
I had a problem with a magic mary tearing knobs off on a really rocky section of my trail. There has been no problem with the Maxxis Minion and the traction is awesome climbing up and shredding down.
