Description

An Absolute Bulldozer

The Maxxis Minion DHF Wide Trail 3CG/EXO/TR 29" MTB Tire is the gold standard for a trail, enduro, and downhill front tire. With aggressive side lugs and tacky rubber, the Minions ensure that you always have grip on techy descents or loose flow features. Imagine yourself screaming down a mountain blasting through rock gardens or root clusters — what kind of tire do you want in front of you? An absolute bulldozer that rages over everything, unfazed.

The Wide Trail Design is a huge asset to these tires. Mountain bike rims have gotten progressively wider in recent years. Rims with internal widths between 30mm and 35mm are now commonplace on new trail bikes and enduro mountain bikes, and many riders are upgrading the wheels on their current bikes. To take full advantage of these modern rims, riders need tires optimized for the extra width.

The Maxxis Wide Trail line of mountain bike tires is designed specifically with 30-35mm rims in mind and features a revised tread block arrangement to maintain ideal knob positioning.

You may also notice the string of letters and numbers after the product title: 3CG/EXO/TR. These are very important features that Maxxis added to improve performance.

The 3CG refers to Maxxis 3C MaxxGrip Triple Compound rubber technology, which uses a harder, longer-lasting base layer and two progressively softer top layers in order to optimize traction and stability.

EXO Protection refers to an extremely cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant material that is added to the sidewalls of Maxxis tires. This densely woven fabric is also lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tire remains unaffected. EXO Protection is exceptional for rocky, treacherous trails where the chance of sidewall cuts and abrasions is high.

And of course, TR is Tubeless Ready — a necessity for all MTB tires these days. To run optimal pressures without fear of pinch flat, you have to have tubeless tech.
