Description

Dissect The Gnar

Designed in conjunction with Aussie DH racer Troy Brosnan, the Maxxis Dissector seeks to minimize drag while retaining cornering control. This versatile tire can be used as a front, a pair, or as a rear depending on trail conditions. Striking a balance between rolling speed and cornering grip, the Dissector also ramps up the braking traction for maximum control under maximum speed.

EXO is a cut- and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of many Maxxis mountain bike and gravel tires. This densely woven fabric is lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tire remains unaffected. Choose EXO Protection for enhanced durability for gravel, XC, and light-duty trail riding.

Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tire's tread layout and profile on today's modern, wider rims. Traditional tires are designed around older, narrower rims and can create an overly square tire profile, leading to less than optimal performance. WT tires are optimized for a 35mm inner rim width but are proven to work over a range from 30-35mm inner rim widths, depending on the rider's preference.

Features:

  • 29x2.4/2.6" tubeless ready clincher tire
  • Tubeless ready design
  • Tread pattern minimizes drag while enhancing cornering traction
  • EXO abrasion resistant sidewall layer for enhanced durability
  • Dual compound
  • Works well run as a front or a rear
  • Wide Trail edition is optimized for 35mm inner width rims
  • Recommended use: dry to loose trail conditions
  • Trail, enduro, downhill application
  • 60 TPI
  • Weight: 912/1010g

Fast rolling DH capable tire that fits the broad trail category well

I run a DC 2.4 Dissector on the back of my hardtail and 140mm trail bike. It's been a really fun tire because when you're pedaling it remains fast due to the relatively short heavily ramped center knobs, but when you lean the bike over or are descending, the side knobs are there to have your back. It's way faster than a DHR2 for the rear, but of course won't climb or brake as well.

If you like to slide a bit either under braking or into corners, this is a fun tire because the knobs will be there to back you up, but the tire certainly doesn't REQUIRE those antics, just happily accepts them. The only time I feel let down by this tire is climbing the deep dusty stuff where the super ramped knobs start to spin and don't really catch. The DC is long wearing - I wish it would wear out quicker to justify trying the 3C version.

I like pairing this with a DHF or DHR2 front in the Northeast, as we've got lots of undulating terrain, punchy singletrack, and some great local enduro style riding.
