Designed for improved performance and traction across muddy sections and on more rugged, rocky terrains, the Challenge Gravine PRO TLR is designed to deliver. Featuring a more aggressive tread pattern, this tire pushes the boundaries of gravel further, allowing for totally new adventures.
Taking inspiration from their cyclocross designs, Challenge increased the height of the lugs in comparison to other gravel designs, for enhanced grip through muddy sections and over more rocky terrains, with careful detail to the shoulder design for excellent cornering control. It also features an open-tread design for improved mud/dirt shedding and self-cleaning. Combined with the fast-rolling center-line for speed, the result is an overall more aggressive, versatile and dependable ride on multiple rugged terrains, in differing conditions.
Available in two versions, GRAVINE and GRAVINE XP, both available in 700 x 40 and 45mm.

- SMARTplus COMPOUND - Special higher durometer natural SMARTplus rubber provides reduced wear and enhanced durability while retaining its natural properties and offering improved shock-absorption, better control, and reduced rolling resistance.
- GANZO PPS - The GANZO PPS (puncture protection system) features a tight weave, multi-component layer of narrow, special fabric placed between the rubber tread and the casing.
- CHAFER ARAMID BEAD PROTECTION STRIP - Bead protection outer strip that enhances tire longevity against the rim by reducing the effects of chafing or rubbing against the rim's bead hooks.
- CORAZZA ARMOR SILVER - A double, comfortably wide 260TPI polyester casing wrapped around the bead, that delivers maximum sidewall protection.

Reviews
Picked these up on sale to try since I love their CX tire lineup and the ride quality of their tires, both handmade and vulcanized lineups. Wanted something for grippy for single-track and chunky gravel that still rolled adequately fast on the smooth stuff. These tires are very similar in tread as the CX Grifo tire they make, with the center knobs being the exact same.
Now my assessment, these things absolutely blew away my expectations. Have put them through their paces from fast XC style single-track with some rocky technical terrain to smooth road and gravel. Had a blast keeping up with our fast XC MTB group on my Niner RLT 9 gravel bike. They run well on the smooth gravel with just slightly more rolling resistance than the Pirelli Cinturato Gravel H I run for the smoother stuff, but cornering confidence and chunky washboard, these really do behave way better, something to be said about Challenge's Handmade casings I guess.
The only real downside is the mounting process. If you're not familiar with mounting handmade Challenge tires, well, they can be a real Challenge (pun intended). It's worth it in the end though. These are definitely great tires and will be my go to all around mix-terrain that leans more into trail and single-track for sure!
