The SRAM Force 22 HydroR Shifter with Hydraulic Disc Caliper brings all the stopping power, modulation, and reliability of the Red group but at a substantial discount with minimal weight increase.
To start, there's a new master cylinder piston that has seen the utmost real-world, lab, and endurance testing in temperatures ranging from -4°F to 115°F so there is no doubt that the new 2015 brakes will perform in any environment, in all conditions. For consistent brake feel throughout the brake pad lifetime and in varying temperatures, there's a new high-capacity bladder that has been redesigned for better compliance and fluid movement. Down at the caliper itself, SRAM designed these to be compatible with Post and Flat Mount frames and Forks, while a new pad return spring augments the better brake feel by providing more consistent pad rollback and contact points. A new bleed port at the top of the lever has a simpler interface and is easier to access, making service a breeze.
The new shifter is packaged in a more ergonomic body with stainless-steel hardware, an alloy brake lever, and a carbon shift lever that features a new design that is slimmer, lighter weight, and provides more handlebar clearance for better adjustment and better functionality with winter gloves on. Performance is sharp as ever with the same precise actuation of SRAM's ZeroLossâ„¢ technology that has made their drivetrains so alluring to recreational and competitive cyclists alike.
SRAM recommends using 160 mm rotors front and rear for road use, and 140 mm for cyclocross. Sold separately.
Price is for one lever and one caliper. (A front set and rear set will be required per bike.) Claimed weight is 471g per wheel (Lever, Caliper, Hose and 160mm Centerline rotor (not included)).
