The new Sidi MTB SR17 Sole is made of nylon with PU (polyurethane) inserts and allows a good grip, facilitates mud dispersion and provides good stability. The MTB SR17 Sole represents the ultimate balance of stiffness for pedaling efficiency and flexibility for walking comfort. The central insert marked with the Sidi logo acts as a non-slip element. The toe insert is user replaceable, and offers the possibility of mounting spikes to improve traction on particularly muddy courses.
Soft Instep Closure & Tecno-3 Systems
The closure system features an ergonomic instep strap, anatomically designed to fit securely, while still comfortable. It can be easily adjusted on either side to provide a perfect fit, accommodating even those with a higher instep. Additionally, it can be replaced whenever necessary.
SIDI's Tecno-3 System dials in fit along the entire length of the shoe, adapting the upper to the shape of the foot for a customized fit. The closure uses a new proprietary SIDI Wire monofilament that is completely non-binding for intuitive and effortless on-the-fly adjustments. Like most SIDI small parts, the Tecno-3 System is serviceable and replaceable.
The newly designed integrated heel cup is light weight and reinforced to avoid deformations after prolonged strenuous use.

Shimano Sh-56 cleats don't fit these shoes even with shims.

There was one generation of Shimano cleat that came with bolts that were too short, if you use the longer, new generation of Shimano SPD bolts it resolves the cleat fitment issue entirely.
I've ridden Sidis since 2017 (Dominator 7) and these Doninator 10s are my second pair. They've been on my feet for almost two years now. The fit is quite generous both in width, length, and volume, which was a vast improvement over the Dominator 7s. My feet are between sizes, roughlt 12.5 so I'm wearing 47 wide ("mega" as Sidi likes to call them). For a mountain shoe, these are quite comfortable. Full disclosure, I wear these on all my bikes: road and mountain. The soles are sufficiently stiff to transfer power while the tread make walking in them quite comfortable. As a matter of fact, I'm writing this about 2 hours after my ride and they are still on my feet! Some folks might think these are too voluminous, but the simple solution is to use inserts and maybe upgrade the insoles. I adjust the insoles seasonally to accomodate thicker wool socks in the winter. I do ride 12 months a year! The only drawback are the Sidi-proprietary BOAs, which are a bit cumbersome to use with the flip up lever and the side release buttons, especially with thicker gloves. BUT, how much will you actually adjust these on a ride? Maybe once? Maybe twice? The Sidi Boas have not been a detriment to these shoes. I've compared these to Lake MX238's, which is a gravel shoe. The Sidis fit better, are more comfortable and don't cause pinch pain across the bridge of your foot. The Sidi strap alleviates that pinch point, so you can rachet them in as much as you like. I will definitely "re-up" with a pair of these when the time comes.
