Goldilocks just right

I've withheld saying anything about this tire until I had enough miles (at least 3000) to be sure of the mixed results I have encountered. It is quite average except that at the end of the day, it is amazing. There are faster tires, there are a few that are more sure footed. there might even be some that are more puncture resistant. But it handles everything well enough that I no longer am looking for anything else because if I found something that excelled in one area, it would cost me in another. But these hold the magic middle for me.

It handles seams and ridges and mud and gravel and road hazards well. It will hold well on a reverse camber line and will track well, if not perfectly, at least predictably.

Some read that some complained about the pink latex puncture showing through around the nobs; true enough. The tread pattern is a clip rock magnet. It picks up and holds little sharp shards with great tenacity; but this way I don't have to worry about needing studs, as long as the rocks stay put. But while they are living rent free in my tire, they are cutting towards the puncture barrier and guess what happens? It stops there. Sure enough it cuts around the nobs but I can't see that it would ever cause the nobs to break free. I've watched them suspiciously as the miles accrue and there is no degradation to the integrity of the tire. I fully expect to see more that 8000 km from a set.

This morning I had an oncoming pickup pulling a trailer loaded with scrap concrete slabs turn across my bow. He totally underestimated my speed and his load and length. I had to panic stop to avoid t-boning the trailer. Between the hydraulic disk brakes and the Schwalbe 365s it became an anecdote instead of an accident. These tires hold like nothing I've seen before including my fat bike. Good job, Schwalbe!

Good tire; great service.

I converted an old Trek to an electric motor cycle. The old street tires didn't make it on the dirt roads and trails where I run my dogs. The Schwalbes changed the utility of the bike. They are as sure-footed as a tire that width can be.

The first two tires I got had a manufacturer defect. Biketiresdirect quickly and courtiously replaced those tires when I sent pix of the problem tires. I'd deal with them again.

Reliable solid tire

Last pair of these lasted two years of being kept outside in the WI winter on a commuter bike. No punctures and plenty of tread left, but they needed replacing as the tread had cracked and the red puncture protection layer was visible between the tread blocks. Being outside all the time is tough on a tire, so saw no reason not to buy another set.

Great, durable tires that were easy to install.

I installed them on a hybrid to use on and off the road. Some Schwalbes are hard to install- not these!

After two years, tires are coming apart

When I bought these tires in 2018, I submitted a review and awarded them four stars, because of an imbalance in one of the tires. I've used them intermittently mostly in the winter months and now most of the time in the desert Southwest. There is still plenty of tread left on these and the tread design is still pretty ideal for use on dirt roads and loose soil. The problem I have is that, in addition to the punctures (3 flats so far - 2 thorns and one bit of metal), the outer tread plies are separating near the lugs. Orange under-ply is showing in ever widening gaps and splits. The tires (while mounted) are always kept at proper inflation (between 45 and 70 psi) and the bike stored inside my house when not in use. I won't be buying Schwalbe tires again.

I realize that many consider two years to be a ripe old age for tires, but like I said, I've used them only intermittently (Bontrager H2 used 90% of the time) except for the last two months.

The tire I've been looking for...

I commute by bike year round in a four season climate. I love the original Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires that came with my bike for their great rollability and comfort, but they're basically slicks. So in the winter, I've been switching to a couple of different off road treads that have all been problematic for one reason or another (bad fit to the rim so a lot of tire wobble, weak sidewalls that split under the tenderest of conditions, etc.) These GT 365s so far have been the bomb. Same rollability as the other Marathons, and same sidewall protection, but a nice chunky tread that comes cut out of the sides of the tire so it still leans smoothly on dry pavement but digs in when there's snow or slush on the ground. The 38mm means there's a nice fat tire underneath you to suck up the bumps (unlike the meager 32s and 33s I'd been able to find previously). Winter's not over yet, but I'm happy to be riding these for now.

The ultimate tire size for my Surly

The tire on the website says 45 mm but the actual size is 47 mm (622-47). This tire rides so well on smooth and loose surfaces with very little noise. I keep it at 40 psi for city riding, and when loaded down - 60 psi. It tracks well in loose gravel and sand, and sticks well on pavement in tight turns. The only niggle I have is an imbalance in the front tire. A very slight wump - wump on smooth pavement. I repositioned the tire on the wheel to no avail, thinking that it was a mounting error. My front wheel is 100% true, so it must be an overlap in plies. Other than that, this is a great tire. Well have to see how long it lasts.

Just what I was looking for in a wide multipurpose tire

First, the particulars My bike is a Surly LHT 56cm. The rims are Alex DH19. I was concerned that the 700x45 tires might be too tight a fit? No worries. I was also concerned that the very aggressive looking tread might be noisy or roll sluggishly? Again, no worries. I run them at 45psi and that seems to be a nice trade-off for riding on this awful Wisconsin pavement and for loose gravel work, while rolling along pleasantly. They corner well and make a very faint hum on good ashpalt. Note that the ETRTO size is accurate 47-622. These are 700x47 in actuality. My bike looks and feels like it wants to be ridden aggressively. Also, my Tubus Tara Lowrider front rack works with them. Im certain that riding in the snow will be fun with these.

Update after 1 month use of this exceptional tire

I posted the first review of this exceptional tire. Now after a month of use I would like to add some more details, both good and not so good. First, the tire performs extremely well in all conditions. When I ride, particularly at night on wet pavement, the tire stays firmly on the road. No sliding, which I used to get from semi-slicks. Therefore I feel safe and my ride is enjoyable. I will admit, I have intentionally speeded over shallow potholes and cracks that I would have not dared before. The GT 365 flew right over them or just rolled with them. No sliding, no nothing but solid grip and absolute control.

I got the 38 mm but it measures over 40 mm. It's bulbous too. The good of this is the ride is comfortable. The no so good is that at low pressures, like around 30 psi, it takes a noticeable amount of effort to pedal. A fun bike ride can become a hard workout. HOWEVER, I discovered that this was only at low pressures. At near maximum, 80 psi, and lower, the tire was almost as easy to pedal as my previous 35 mm semi-slicks. The ride is a little bouncy and maybe a little tiny bit harsh by fussy standards but it is still very stable and sticks to the road.

I made the right decision with this tire. It's literally changed my life, as I use my bicycle as my main form of transportation. It appears I will get years out of this tire so the cost is easily justified. It's not just the years I will get out of them but the safe years and supreme quality I will enjoy. Well done Schwalbe.

A technical masterpeice especially for cold, wet surfaces

I bought the GT 365 because I read the tire was formulated for cold and wet surfaces. Cold and wet surfaces are a potentially dangerous combination. For me, having the GT 365 gives peace of mind year round in the north eastern US where it is cold and wet for months of the year. Where I live the hilly roads have potholes, cracks and gravel strewn about. Now when I ride daily, day and night, I can be confident knowing I am well protected.

The tire is big, bigger than the stated size. The treads are well designed and aggressive. Grip on the road feels good. Ride is very smooth, even over potholes and cracks. There is little to no rolling resistance compared to my old semi-slicks but it does take a bit more effort from me to pedal up to speed. When reached it's smooth sailing. The tires make a light hum on pavement but this is not annoying to me. Before I had to carefully consider going off road. Not anymore. The tire weight is no issue at all.

Price is on the higher end for general tires but in this case you get a great value. It's really a masterpiece of a tire. I can't believe I would ever say that about a tire. Just look at it.
