Reviews
Quality - great. Sizing - runs a little small which worked well for me. The thumb is longer than my previous gloves which was bothersome at first. There is also a seam in the thumb that is annoying, at least for my hands. Im used to it now but it bugged me for a while. They are difficult to remove when wet. There is a pull tab between the middle and ring finger, pretty much useless. You need to pull off 1 finger at a time bit by bit. Padding on the palms is nice, not too thick. Padding on the fingers isnt needed for road riding but not a hindrance either. Am I happy with these? After breaking in a while - yes. Would I buy again? Probably not.
Arenberg gel glove is thin, light and easy to clean. The padding traverses the base of the hand, does not leave a gap between the ulnar and median nerve like so many gloves. I have osteoarthritis in both thumbs (decades of wheel building ?) with numbness in the hands. These gloves will help me with my current regimen of road, cyclocross, gravel and trail riding.
A comfortable and durable all-day glove for long rides 100K and longer. These are the second pair I've purchased on sale at BTD in the last five years. The older pair is still fine, a little worn, but there is no performance degradation. I purchased the second pair to swap out while the other pair is washed and dried since I am riding more frequently. These gloves have the padding in the right place for me. Overall, a great glove
Gloves don't last forever if you ride a lot, but these last much longer than most. I've tried different brands and styles over the years, and these Castelli gloves have emerged as the best. Comfortable, washable, durable, excellent.
I bought a pair of these gloves early last year and put about 4000 miles on them. They were getting a bit ragged by June of this year so I looked around and found them at BikeTiresDirect. I ordered a pair and they arrived very quickly. I really like these gloves, they provide a decent amount of cushion but aren't overly padded. They seem quite robust, I got a lot of good miles out of my previous pair and probably could have worn them longer but the area around the finger holes were getting a bit frayed. So far this pair looks great.
Really nice glove with plenty of padding in the right places. Not the quickest to take off after a ride, just takes a little patience. No durability issues so far, which I imagine would occur if you rush to take them off. Otherwise, great glove. Highly recommend.
In the past I haven't normally worn gloves while riding, but while training for Unbound Gravel and hitting some pretty rough sections I thought some gloves might be a good idea. I chose these based on the "Arenberg" description, the dampening system, and the mesh backing to keep the top of my hands cool. They did not disappoint. They helped to smooth out the roughest terrain the Flint Hills of Kansas threw at me during Unbound this year. I'm very glad I chose to go with these gloves for my race and continue to use even after the race is over.
I've used them on both paved ad gravel roads. Sizing is my biggest issue. I recently repurchased them and went up 2 sizes from my normal medium. I had two problems with them. #1. They are still too tight. On humid days I have to pull them off 1 finger at a time.
Issue #2: Where is the Gel Castelli advertises ??? I sure can't find it.
It is obvious that a lot of thought went into the design and construction of these gloves. The Castelli Arenberg is constructed of several different fabrics, all with a specific purpose. The tops of the glove allow for gentle air cooling, and the top Velcro closure is perfectly placed, and securely holds throughout every one of my rides. In the past I have used other big name gloves with closures on the palm-side of the glove and they never seemed to stay secured - these Castellis stay properly secured. The palm grip is well-constructed with an approximately 20 mm tab to pull the glove snuggly onto the hand. There are 7 individual small pads on the palm side that allow for excellent responsiveness while road cycling. The gloves are very easy to hand-wash and rinse/hang to dry. I am impressed with the gloves, and will be ordering them again when the time comes.
I like the gloves and they seem to offer the right amount of padding. I would normally wear these every day in warm weather. I've noticed that I have wiggle out of them more than my last pair which makes me think they are running a little small. When they are on, they feel great, so I'm not certain how to describe the fit. I can't say with any certainty how durable these gloves are. By reputation, Caselli sells a very good product so I'm hoping to get a few good years of use from them.
Nice gloves, not too much padding, not bulky, just right for me. I maybe should have gone a size larger, fit is great but fingers are a little tight when removing. Ive only had them a couple months but so far really happy with them.
The Castelli Arenberg is a sharp looking and nicely designed glove that combines different fabrics which allow the top of the hand to stay cool and ventilated, while the palm/grip portion is constructed of a more hardy material. The bar padding is excellent, and the top side velcro is perfectly located. They are easy to hand-wash and hang dry. I will definitely be looking for another pair of these when is comes time for a replacement.
First time using this brand for cycling gloves. Like the fit, the look and the comfort. Bought two pair and shared with a friend who is also happy with them. Good product and always a good price at BikeTiresDirect - my go to for all biking needs!
I occasionally get numbness in my hands on my road bike. On some gravel rides my hands need some protection. Enter the Arenberg gloves by Castelli. These are it for me. Padding is generous but not excessive, closure system is reliable (earlier versions were less so), palms are grippy, and it has the snot wiper area on the thumb for those days when you need it.
