Based on the success of the P.R.O. In-R-Cool short, the P.R.O. Escape short benefits from the trickling-down of features previously only available from pricier, top-of-the-line kit. The Escape is a versatile short that can transition from long training rides to hard, intense racing and deliver cloud-like comfort all the same.

The designers at Pearl Izumi focused on breathability for the new version of the P.R.O. Escape short. Using the new P.R.O. Transfer fabric throughout the entirety of the short, not only does the Escape breathe well but it offers superior moisture wicking. Featuring the brand new premium P.R.O. Escape 1:1™ chamois for unmatched comfort, the multi-level padding is topped by a floating sheet that moves side-to-side with you as you pedal, reducing the amount of friction that causes uncomfortable chafing.

Available in multiple colors. Sizes Small - 2XL.

Comfort taken care of.

Aero saddles come at an expense to comfort. P.R.O. Escape Shorts is worth more than money. Put the two together and you spent your money the best it can be spent. No manner how many miles the day has in store for me, these shorts make it happen!

Great pair of cycling shorts

I am an aggressive club cyclist approx. cycling approx. 6,000 miles a year. I am 5' 10 , 36 waist approx. 175 -180 lbs. depending on season) Finding comfortable shorts is difficult, between sizefit and chamois it can be a pain in the neck. Ordering, trying on and returning far too often. Most shorts, depending on manufacturer can be size medium to extra large to fit me. The large was the correct size. The chamois is positioned where it needs to be with great cushioning. Fit and cut is great. Bib shorts do not fit me, upper trunk and shoulders pull bib shorts up into my groin. So that is not an option for me. Size runs true to chart on site. It has been a very warm and humid summer. These Pro shorts wick fantastically. I am ordering my second pair. BTD pricing is best I could find.

P.I. slowly but very obviously lowering quality

These shorts were recommended to me by Pearl Izumi customer service, after they discontinued the P.R.O. In-R-Cool short. I have observed a sad trend from the company for the past few years when modifying their shorts in the same price range - sometimes while retaining the same model name - they are using lower quality components, specifically the chamois. They did this a few years ago with their Select Attack shorts - they went from being comfortable for 30 miles to only about 20 miles, with the P.R.O. Escape shorts, the chamois is a lot wider than that to which I am accustomed, but with much less cushion. I don't think they sell a more expensive short, if that is what it is going to take to get the same quality... I suppose I need to look at a different brand.

Great shorts especially in warm weather

Sizing is getting more difficult amongst Manufacturers. I am 5'10, 176 lbs. in ride season. Louis Garneau large used to fit great. Now the LG's I tried were too tight and short in leg length. I tried Assos, for me they were cut strangely. Tried other pairs and then I saw these Pearl Izumi PRO Escape on sale. I do not have large legs but still ordered XL as PRO I was told more a Race Fit. They do fit me well, unfortunately I am somewhere between a Large and XL. The XL fits decently, just not perfectly. Large was too tight for me. The weather I wore the first 2 rides was in the 90's and high humidity. These shorts wick moisture fantastically and chamois offers great comfort. A draw string would have been nice. Still a great pair of shorts.

PI Shorts keep getting better

This latest rendition in 2017 corrected the sizing problem of PI's previous year's top of the line short. The Large I had was more like a Medium. I always buy the top of the line PI shorts for maximum comfort and the chamois in them has steadily improved over the years.

Great shorts.

Just completed a 125 mile ride with about 13000 feet of climbing. The plush padding in these shorts provides super comfort for long hard rides. Liked the so much that bought a second pair.

Quality Product not for me

Really like the material of the short BUT it did irritate soft tissue. Was very uncomfortable.... Could be a lot of reasons for this bike setup etc... but i went with Assos short.... really the best stuff out there.

High visibility a plus.

I've had these shorts now for about a month and they are really comfortable. The neon yellow is great for visibility. Would definitely buy another pair!

Excellent shorts, tried others and keep coming back to these

I'm mainly a road bike rider, averaging 30-40 miles per ride. Comfort is key for me, I've tried several brands and keep coming back to these. The padding is excellent and the material is very comfortable. If you haven't tried these and are looking for a great pair of shorts, you need to try these.

Worth it

Easily the best riding shorts I've owned, and worth every penny. I bought a pair prior to a 2-day 175 mile ride. After riding 100 on the first day I regretted only buying one pair...so I washed them in the hotel sink and dried them with the hotel hair dryer so I could use them for day 2!

To much padding

The new PRO escapes have twice as much padding as the old PRO. Way to much

Comfortable chamois, fabric is cooler, but not as supportive.

As usual, PI's top-of-the-line shorts have a comfortable chamois, and the fabric is cool and breathable. But it seems that they sacrificed support. The fabric is not a strong and supportive as the previous P.R.O. fabric, which on a long ride can make a difference.
