The Lake CX242 is a culmination of all of their experience, advanced materials, and shoe making techniques to make a shoe that offers the best fitting solution for hard to fit foot types. Made with a heat moldable heel counter and an uniquely designed upper that has enough adjustability to accommodate riders with bunions, deformation, narrow or wide feet, or a high or low instep. The separated panels allow for fine tuning the fit, relieving pressure from sensitive and painful spots on the feet.

The CX242 uses a segmented upper construction designed to accommodate a wider range of foot shapes than traditional one-piece uppers. Because support is distributed across multiple panels rather than a continuous closure path, pressure across the instep is reduced and the shoe adapts well to difficult-to-fit feet or sensitive pressure zones.

This design may feel less aggressively locked-in across the top of the foot compared to models such as the CX239. This is intentional and prioritizes adaptability and comfort during long rides.

Built on the Competition Last, the wider base platform improves stability without fitting like a traditional wide shoe. If you are between sizes or prefer additional room, consider sizing up 0.5–1 size.

Features:

• Last: CX/TX Competition Last – designed for very high‑cadence riding and higher pressures, with a more curved profile than the Sport last, increased toe pitch and heel lift, a tighter heel, and a slightly wider ball girth to let the foot expand under pedaling load.
• Outsole: Lake Competition 100% carbon fiber sole with a 3‑hole cleat pattern.
• Upper: Full‑grain leather or Clarino microfiber with NuFoam lining and carbon fiber support panels; upper segmented into six independent zones to accommodate narrow or wide feet and various instep heights; moldable heel counter doubles heel hold; Carbitex support panels add structure to the closure.
• Closure: BOA® Fit System Li2 dials offering precise, bi‑directional micro‑adjustment and high abrasion resistance.
• Heat molding: Heat‑moldable heel counter with detailed molding instructions available online.
