The Overcurve R4's classic aesthetic belies an advanced construction technique: a resilient polyurethane laminated material is combined over a comfortable mesh, reducing energy loss and providing long-lasting foot support where it's most needed.
Overcurve
Shoe closure is fast, reliable, and secure, powered by a micro-adjustable BOA® IP1 dial in an Overcurve pattern.
The Overcurve shoe construction features a staggered collar that wraps around the ankle, tracing the natural alignment of the ankle's two bony protrusions: the lateral and medial malleoli. The result is an asymmetrical shape, with the throat of the shoe curving over the foot from its outside to its inner side.
R4 Outsole
The moderately stiff R4 outsole strikes a balance between comfort and pedaling efficiency to make it a true all-rounder, featuring a lower profile structurally optimized with a 15% infused carbon fiber composition.
The R4 outsole further provides efficient ventilation with internal channeling for effective temperature regulation. The cleat is positioned slightly further towards the heel compared to traditional placement to optimize pedaling efficiency and reduce knee compression, especially suited to aggressively forward aero riding positions.

Reviews
I've been looking at this shoe for, literally years, and waiting for my Pearl Izumis to wear out. When they finally did, I pulled the trigger, only to be disappointed.
1) Fiziks seem to run large--I was able to account for this and size down (44 Fiziks, where I fit a 45 in PI/Shimano). I got the math right and the shoes fit, length-wise.
2) These shows run narrow--again, no issue, i was expecting that and I have narrow feet. Win.
3) Holy, arch support--there's so much structure in the footbed/arch that i could not wear these. I have fairly flat feet and bending my foot around the arch was more than i could handle.
so, I sent them back and got a pair of Shimano RC-500s. (BikeTiresDirect was perfect here, they sent me shipping labels and the refund was processed with no issue.)
Takeaways: these certainly seem like good shoes. Two-way BOA dials, well built, light enough, aero-seeming. I felt like the value for money was going to be there, but they just didn't fit me.
If you have narrow-ish feet with normal-to-high arches, prepare to size down, but these should work for you. If you have wider feet or lower arches save yourself some time and return postage and look elsewhere.
Really like the Fizik Tempo R4. These shoes look great and have held up well after a month of rides. Like the fact that the toe box is just slightly more roomy. Would definitely buy these again and very happy purchase and Bike Tires Direct always has great service
I was able to pick these shoes on an awesome sale for $150. I wear size 10.5 in sneakers and ordered 45 originally. I had to return and reorder size 44 which fit perfectly. BTD was great on the return. The shoe looks and feels awesome. I'm pretty happy with my purchase.
These are my second pair of Fizik shoes and they are worth the money. Fits well, great material, very stylish...
The only this is that if you ride more than 80 miles, it starts to be little uncomfortable on the bottom of the sole.
Had tubeless tire puncture on the side wall. Had to walk 2.8 miles in them. Amazingly it was not as bad as I thought it would be. Sure did have to clean them after that. This is my first shoes with this type of closure. They are very nice.
I have been converted to Fizik. 100% road use with Speedplay pedals. Cleat mount and positioning was simple. Soles are plenty stiff and closure system snugs around entire foot nicely.
