An Easy Way To Remove Stubborn Tires
If you've got a tire that just won't seat don't risk blowing up the rim or tire by pumping it higher and higher, just reach for the handy Unior Tire Setter and give that tire a little pull in the right direction.
Based off the Unior 447/1 pliers, these have steel plates welded on to the jaws to help massage the tire into place.
The jaw slider has 7 indexed positions to help get just the right width for the tire you're trying to seat; and a forged, hardened chrome vanadium construction means the tool will outlast pretty much everything.

- The pliers are intended for fast straightforward tire removal - especially tires that have already bonded with the rim. Using the pliers, compress the tire so that it detaches from the bead of the rim. A strong grip facilitates the removal of the tires. The well-designed shape of the pliers enables the separation of the tire from the rim and ensures that the inner tube is not punctured when removing the tire. The pliers are chromed and laminated with plastic for a more comfortable grip.

My bike shop mechanic used the Park Bros. version of the Unior Tire Setter to mount my tire on its rim last July (no easy task with that tire and rim) and I decided such a tool would come in handy for future use. The Unior version well made and most certainly the equal of the Park tool: well made, strong, well finished.. In short, I bought it for insurance for the next time I run into a tire changing problem and is an excellent investment if you work on bikes as I do.
I rebuild bikes for a local charity. One of the regular challenges is removing and remounting tires. I have a Koolstop that I use for pulling the last few inches onto the rim but can not be used remove tires. It is also only 6 inches long providing limited leverage.
The Unior Tire Setter has better leverage and handles both mounting and dismounting. The only problem I've had is holding the tire and adjusting the jaws one handed. It usually takes a few tries to get the right opening. On my next use I plan to put the wheel on a wheel holder to free up both hands during the initial adjustment process.
