Good accessory for the woods
I really like this bell. I bought it thinking I was going to ride the Tour Divide in June 2020 but Covid19 sank those plans. Maybe next year. The mounting seems very secure and I have used it over some very rocky terrain. No issues with the mount. The bell has a slider that you can use to have it full on or in partial mode, or lock it out for silence when wanted. Basically the motion of your bike over uneven terrain makes the bell ring. The bumpier, the louder and more frequent it rings. If you are on a path or smoother terrain and want to warn some clueless pedestrians, you can always slightly tweak your handlebars a bit and it will ring out. I have found it useful on twisty trails with limited line of sight to warn the dog walkers I am coming. Hopefully it will be just as effective with bears and cougars.

Essential Equipment
If you share your local trails with anyone, especially equestrians and hikers, a bell is essential equipment. Timber's bell is well-made, loud enough to be heard but not a harsh sound, and it's easy to silence it on the fly with the flip of a lever. It is a bit large, so you have to have space on your handlebars and among your cables, but otherwise it's a great product.

You can hear me now!!
I really enjoy that fact that you can turn it on and off. Hikers and other MTBer's can easily hear you coming and avoids any potential collision. Really a must add on product for the bike especially with the ability to turn it off when you want no bell noise.

Not the cheapest, but definitely the best bell option out there.
This bell's tone carries, and helps make multi-use trails much safer. What's unique is the fact that you can turn it off when ascending or riding in open areas where collisions aren't likely, but it's automatic when turned on so you can concentrate on your riding.

Awesome bell!
Nice having this as a warning sound to upcoming hikers. Also, I do not need to ring bell every time. It rings off of handlebar vibration so I can concentrate on the riding. Setting on/off super easy and helpful

Pleasant warning to people and animals
This bell is great way to give hikers and animals a heads up that youre coming. Hikers appeeciate the passive warning instead of a sudden surprise.

If you want smiles and waves from other trail users, get this bell.
I ride mainly in the multi-user community forest trail system. The undergrowth can be really tall and thick making it difficult to see far down the trail. I you are on the switchbacks or more technical stretch of trail it can a choice of reaching for your bell or keeping control of your bike. This bell rings freely and gives others a heads up before I even see them. I've gotten more smiles and people saying "I love your bell." The equestrians really like it and are much more friendly. I really like the option of turning the bell off when climbing or out on the road. It maybe could be a bit louder, but over all I strongly recommend this bell.

For mountain biking &40and the needs are different than road&41 there is no better bell
I love being able to passively (you don't have to manually ring the bell) alert my presence to other trail users. The bell immediately starts interactions with other trail users off to a positive start, even with other riders. It always other riders that might be slower to hear you coming and find a safe spot to move over and let you pass. It also alerts hikers that you are coming down the trail before you can see them. And the best part is when you are climbing you can completely silence the bell. The only negative is you need to place it on the bar so in the event of a crash the bell can't smack into your top tube. Aside from this, all good.

Clamp on model
I bought the clamp on model and the lever is easy to use turns a bell on and off. It's loud enough people can hear you around the corner on the trail when they're hiking. It's completely silent when you turn it off. I'd recommend buying the quick release model because my lever on my clamp-on timber bell broke when I wrecked.
