Reviews
I have been so impressed with the performance and durability of this cable on my Shimano GRX 810 equipped gravel bike, that I installed it in my Campagnolo Super Record 11 speed Ergo shift lever on my road bike. Even ran it through the existing Campy cable housing. It made my shifting (which was already great) even better by reducing the friction within the housing which also makes fine-tuning the R. derailleur easier.
I was told this can't be done because the Shimano cable diameter is bigger and the anchor button on the end is bigger. Measurements with my digital calipers showed the Campy and Shimano cables to be the SAME diameter. The button end of the Shimano cable is slightly bigger diameter, but it still fit in the Ergo Shifter anchoring slot, albeit a tighter fit.
In the end, there's noticeably less friction and the shift paddle has a lighter touch.
I replaced old JAGwire cable with this and had fantastic shifting until recently. I noticed that the rear derailleur was needing a very small adjustment. Upon adjusting I noticed that shifting was now inconsistent. Further troubleshooting led me to find that the coating had started chaffing off. That made me feel extremely disappointed of what originally felt like a superb product.
I think I've done less than 500 miles on these cables. :-(
This is a very slick shift cable to use. Installation is easy and the cable is a very smooth and slippery in the cable housing. I did not install this in the 9000 or 6800 (installed on 7900). I was very careful and scraped the coating off the cable where it is clamped in with the fixing bolt, paranoid of cable clamp slippage. Not cheap, but a very smooth and slick cable.
This is a reliable, well made set of shifter cables and housing that works with either SRAM or Shimano systems. You'll have to pre-stretch the cables a bit before locking down your pinch bolts permanently, but once that's done, you're shifting will be precise.
Replaced the original 105 brifters with new versions that route cables on the handlebars. Shifting was basically OK but not what i expected from new equipment. Replaced the cables and housings with this package. Huge improvement.
What a difference these cables made in shifting performance. Easy to install and a good price. I have a set on my other bike thats been on for almost 2 years with a lot of miles and still shifting good.
