Reviews
I have very wide sit bones and needed an extra wide saddle. This is my second selle SMP plus. I have one on my distance bike and my new Madone. Whether its a 30 mile group ride or a century, the last thing I want to worry about is my seat. Highly recommend this saddle.
I have 2 of this saddle, one for my MTB and one for my gravel bike. Best all around saddle, I first get the pro but returned it and get the plus because of the extra pad. Very comfortable saddle , the eagle beak is great for climbing like you have an extra leverage when seating on the tip, it's always pricey but I'm happy for my purchase, you got what you've paid for, highly recommended !
Saddles are of personal choice and body configurations. After spending thousands of dollars on failed experiments, I came across the SMP Plus. The plus offers more cushion than other SMP saddles, which for people over 165 lbs could be very beneficial on rides over 3 or 4 hours. The saddle curvature and cut cradles you for a comfortable ride. It is not the lightest saddle, but more than compensates for it by the comfort it delivers.
I wont be throwing money away on other saddles, as long the SMP Plus model remains unchanged.
After trying many different types and brands of saddles this one really works for me. Purchased the first one in 2013 and now have four of them on my most used bikes.
Make sure to get your sit bone measurement to ensure the right size. Also important to get the angle right for your body. I had a pro fit which changed the angle and set back making the seat even more comfortable.
While saddle fit is very personal I have found this seat to be comfortable and durable. Not inexpensive but highly recommended.
I bought my Selle SMP Plus for comfort during longer rides and it's the perfect saddle. So far I have no regrets and get more road miles without thinking about saddle soreness. If you're in the market for quality and comfort, definitely start with a Selle that fits your needs.
I have been using this saddle for about 10 years. Recently, I purchased two replacements for my bikes. The saddles I replaced each had more than 20,000 miles of use. Cosmetically, the old saddles looked fine. The padding had broken down and they became uncomfortable. Admittedly, this saddle is kind of pricey but the value and durability offsets the cost.

I too have bought/swapped about a dozen saddles trying to find something that I could live with on 2 hour rides. I took a chance on this saddle, its really kind of pricey for my budget, but I'm so glad I did. After a couple of initial adjustments, this saddle just disappears under me. It spreads your weight and conforms to your natural ass shape so, for me, I dont even know its there.
Tested one several years ago thought it was too stiff, and hard. Now after lots of discomfort and pain, you know exactly where I mean, I bought the Plus, wider then other SMP's. Mounted it where old saddle was, Havent had to change once, And am happy to say ridding in comfort for the first time. Simply put, Great Saddle
I have had literally dozens of saddles. I have had my sit bones measured and pursued every recommendation on how to fit my body to a saddle. By most measures this saddle should be too wide, but is in fact perfect. It's the only saddle I have used that leaves no soreness. My soft parts feel untouched with all the pressure spread out across the sit bones and the glutes. I have put hundreds of miles on it and could not be happier.
This saddle has a design flaw which might only become obvious after longer-term use.Because of the lower midsection it,s easy that the pubic bones slide from the back into the lower part. This causes pressure to the 3rd branch of the pudendal nerve after longer use.I have no personal interest in any other saddle manufacturer, but rather have been riding this saddle for a long time until I developed pudenal neuralgia. After careful anatomical studies I realized that the problem was the lower midsection of the Selle SMP.This condition lasted for about 8 months and was very unpleasant. After trying about 10 different saddles and with the help of a professional bike fitter I got rid of the symptoms within days. The saddle which made the difference was a Kobi saddle which puts pressure on the sitbones and does not allow forwarward slipping.
I have no connection whatever to the producers of Kobi.

This SMP Saddle is the best , I ride in town and country longer distances on road and trail... the Saddle gives me control of the bike and freedom to ride long distances. I like the coolness and confort , I ride light bikes but a good SMP Saddle is comfort. I feel like a child ridding my bike for the first time being young again and free .. is what the SMP Saddle does for me.
Following surgery for urethral stricture (and doctor-ordered one year of not riding) I chose a Selle SMP saddle for my best bike. After riding it a bit, I noticed some sit bone soreness. Upon reading a few articles online, I orderes a Selle SMP PLUS saddle from Bike Tires Direct and installed it on my older bike. I notice a much more comfortable ride using the Selle SMP Plus saddle. As advertised, it is not as firm as the Selle SMP and that seems to have helped out quite a bit.
As time has gone by, I have adapted to both Selle saddles, but prefer the Selle SMP Plus for comfort (especially on rides over 30 miles)
If you have issues down under in that region of your body, I would recommend you considered the Selle SMP Plus saddle.

Hi Hans,
Thank you very much for your thoughtful review, which we hope will prove useful to other customers. Everyone's anatomy is different, and we've found that the best—and really, only—way to find a saddle that works is through personal experimentation. Different models and manufacturers work well for different people; most popular saddles have a number of enthusiastic fans who swear by that saddle and will ride no other, but that's no guarantee it will work as well for another rider. We are always happy to offer our advice to customers who ask about saddle choice, and we offer an excellent return policy should a saddle not work out after a ride or two.
Thanks, Stacia
