Energy encapsulated in a natural hydrogel
From a technical perspective, traditional gels are water and carbohydrates simply mixed into syrups, often containing added flavours and preservatives.
The Maurten Gel 100 is completely different. It's a biopolymer matrix, filled with a unique blend of fructose and glucose (ratio of 0.8:1) which enables uptakes of up to 100 grams of carbohydrates per hour.
The Gel 100 is built by harnessing natural hydrogel technology and built with six natural ingredients. It doesn't contain any colorants or preservatives and comes in 40g servings that contains 60% carbohydrates--a high weight to energy ratio.
Gel 100 is built on hydrogel technology. The hydrogel enables a smooth transportation of the carbohydrates through the stomach to the intestine where the water, salt and carbohydrates are absorbed.

Best in class gel
My son who is a triathlete turned me on to Maurten products several months back, and I am highly impressed. When your doing how output lengthy rides its hard to keep your energy up so I'm always interested in new solutions. The Maurten Fuel Gel 100 is a difference maker for sure compared to even the other high quality gels on the market. Its got a sweet flavor that is neutral to the pallet and non-fatiguing. I have found that using a 100 gel pre ride makes a huge difference in how I feel on the bike. While these are not inexpensive I think they are well worth the investment. I use the Maurten solids as well which are equally impressive

The gel that fits my needs
Tha Maurten Fuel Gel 100 fits my need for an effective energy food, that is very easy on the palate and the stomach. The package is very easy to open, and extract the gel under ride conditions. A well-engineered performance gel. Well worth the higher price per serving.

Awesome
So glad I switched to Maurten for the Boston marathon. I fueled with it once before the race and had no trouble putting down five of them during the marathon. BTD had a great deal on them, matching the discount offered by the Boston Athletic association on Maurten. I'll be using it again in NYC in a couple weeks.
