The Kuat Piston Pro X is ready to change your hitch rack game. Engineered and evolved from Kuat's deep knowledge and experience with automobile bike racks, the Piston Pro X combines all of the features you've been dreaming of.
Genuine Kashima-coated hydro-pneumatic arms make loading and unloading a one-handed operation. Touchless arms grab the tires, keeping your bike secure, and your paint pristine. Low-profile integrated led tail lights synchronize with your vehicle, providing enhanced rear visibility and on-road safety.
The Piston Pro X also offers a Flatlock hitch cam with a lockable install feature keeping your rack secure and wobble-free. QuickConnect modular design allows for the addition of a one or two-bike add-on with bike carrying capacity ranging from two, three, to four bikes. Kuat offers an optional e-bike ramp for easy loading and unloading of heavier e-bikes and tiered trays that add ground clearance and options for which bike riders can load and unload no matter which position the bike is in on the rack. Foot or hand actuated pivot on the two bike version and a clever end pull handle on the add-ons makes lowering the rack up or down, with the add-on, less of a stretch.

I bought this rack to replace my Kuat NV 2.0. There was nothing wrong with my NV 2.0 I wanted a rack that didn't touch any part of the bike frame. I found the Piston Pro X and decided to buy it since it was on sale. This rack is a bit pricey but it's well worth the price. It's a high quality rack and it looks great. It has built in LED lights which is a great feature if you travel a lot with your bikes like we do. The rack also comes with a lock cable that is very thick and strong to lock your bikes to the rack while traveling. The rack is very sturdy and has no lateral movement while driving. It is very easy to load/unload the bikes The bikes sit in the trays and the wheel brackets lock into place ensuring the bikes don't move. I will definitely recommend this rack.
Big improvement of past iterations of the NV and BikeTiresDirect processed the order super efficiently!
Installation of tray arms onto the I-beam is far easier
Staggered trays make fitting two bikes facing in opposite directions easier (bikes can also face in the same direction)
Wheel arms are a much better design (well built and easy to adjust size with no tools) than old front arm and rear strap
LEDs on the back trays and included wiring harness to work with braking/signaling are a nice addition
"Security lock" is improved though I still never leave bikes unattended when parked
