Hutchinson's fast rolling Black Mamba cyclocross tire is now available in a tubeless model. This wide 700c x 34 mm rubber features densely packed center knobs for low rolling resistance and taller side knobs that dig into the corners. The overall low profile of the tread makes this tire perfectly suited to dry or fast conditions. A dual-compound Race Riposte rubber enhances the quickness and the grip of this tire, and the 127 TPI Protect Air Max casing shaves weight and mounts up airtight with the addition of sealant.

Claimed weight is 350 g. Made in France.

Good Tire

Great dry, hard pack gravel tire. It mounted very easily.

Difficult to Mount on one Rims, Impossible on Another

Very difficult to mount on a Stan's Iron Cross a hour of wrestling with two tire levers and then lots of soapy water and MANY tries with a compressor to get the beads to mount. A couple of months later, an hour to get them off!

On Industry 9 rims, I could not get them to mount. Finally one bead blew apart at just below 75 psi.

Fast on hardpack and slippery on gravel fire roads

I like the tires for their design and speed. They are difficult to mount tubeless and I actually blew out the bead trying to mount my first one. They have a maximum of 85 PSI and I did not exceed that but the tire blew up before the bead would seat. Since it happened as I was installing it I did not try to return it but at this price point for a tire it can make you cry. Be careful when mounting them up. As for wear or life of the tire, that is another down side. The centers tread wears very quickly, like within a couple hundred miles. It would be a great race day tire providing the day and ground are dry and it's a new tire. I don't think I would go so far as to call this tire a cyclecross tire since we all know cyclecross is about mud and slippery surfaces. Sorry I can't give this tire a better review but I think it's a bit over priced for what it is.

The consumer does not grow money on trees.

I would like to give these tires a try but $XX.XX plus shipping? That's $XX more than I pay for IRC Serac CX. Why is a bicycle tire so expensive? C'mon, tell the truth, how can a little bit of rubber which is basically made up the same as any other tubeless tire be so expensive? Let me know when the price drops under $XX.XX Ok.
