The O.N.S. system is designed to improve your chances so you can keep your wits, avoid the panic, and make good decisions. Astral developed the One Night Stand (O.N.S.) system so you'd have a backup plan in case of the unexpected. Pack it once and forget it. Until you need it.

The seatpost with O.N.S. is equipped with the O.N.S. emergency sleeve tucked carefully inside the post itself. It has you better prepared should things go sideways. Install it. Ride it. Forget about it. When you need it, it'll be there.

*Note: It may be tempting to unpack the O.N.S. sleeve when you get it, but unless you are good at putting toothpaste back in the tube, we'd advise against it. The inside of a seatpost is tiny and the O.N.S. sleeve is tightly packed. It should be considered one-time-use.
