I wanted some street tires for my mountain bike so as to save wear & tear on my knobby tires, as well as for a smoother ride while riding streets. The Schwalbe AL Grounders work great for me. The low profile tread and width (2.35") make for a good, stable ride for paved street, patchwork pavement, dirt and gravel. Very good all around tire. I did not do a lot of shopping around, mostly looking for relatively low, reasonable shipping pricing to Hawai'i, which Bike Tires Direct provides. But I believe their price on the tires are less expensive/average.

I recently purchased three new Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires for my wife's trike. We moved from the 20 x 1.5's to the 20 x 1.75's and we're glad we did. My wife said the ride is so much smoother and surprisingly they didn't slow her down at all. They look significantly bigger on the rim and fit perfectly. This is my second purchase from Biketiresdirect.com and we couldn't be happier. Great prices, great communication and quick shipping on both of our orders. A+

I have an older bicyce that years ago came with a 24/34/42 chainring. I have tried a variety of chainrings on it. Most recently I took off a Sugino 3 piece that I had an inner 30t/ middle 42t/ plus a nonfunctional 44t cover. Since I ride mostly on the streets & park trails; I decided to go with a 28/38/48 t Acera chainring. The deraileur would not shift to the inner 28t chainring. The LBS mechanic @ REI told me that the 2.25 inch was too wide and that it interfered with the deraileur. So, I got this 2.1 inch MTB tire to replace the thicker 2.25 and now the deraileur does shift to the 28t inner ring. The ride is great. I use this bike on my all day long cross city rides/ or I can say cross country rides. At least 4 to 5 hrs. riding stopping getting a meal, visiting concerts, etc.. Southbound and east/west and then northbound to back home.
