I have used these for MTB and gravel for 10 years or so. They roll very well on pavement and have all the tread I need for dirt.

I bought these Mezcals in a 44 width. I set them up tubeless on i25 WTB rims. They roll really fast on gravel and pavement and have put up with extensive VT class 4 'road' abuse on a loaded bike. Even after indiscriminately bashing them through miles of chunky baby heads, roots, and slate, they are holding air great with no flats or need for plugs. I'm impressed! They get a bit slick when totally caked in mud and picking through off camber wet roots , but I can't fault them for that. For a 'dry' tire they have been champion all-arounders. I may try them in 2.1's next just for fun, but will definitely buy these again.

The tire *could* be fantastic. Great tread, fast rolling and just enough traction for light-duty gravel and single track. The tire measures 35mm so it's dead-on there, but it's a low volume 35mm. Compared to the Donnelly MXP, which is typically my go-to tire for mixed terrain and CX races, this tire looks anemic. The MXP is just a larger volume tire without much additional width (maybe 1-2mm). That extra volume is pretty important to me since I'll often jump on some rocky single track for CX training (or just because it's fun). I won't try that with these tires.

I found myself riding more gravel than pavement on my new touring bike, so I swapped the slicks it came with for these. These are grippy in light to moderate gravel, and don't squirm on pavement, and roll smooth and fast. For rough terrain, I run 650b x 47 knobbies, but for all else, I use these. Not too expensive, either. No complaints.
