A strong comfortable ride for your money

This tire with 100 psi makes it a stonger faster ride and makes going up hill alot easier. The added tread makes it a comfortable ride as well.

Thank you for your feedback.

Great tire!

Purchased this for my touring bike. Was using Continental Ultra Gatorskins. Too narrow for some trails, Marathon about 3-4 mm wider though both are 32-630. Using Sun CR-18 rims. Some difficulty mounting, but not as much as with Michelin World Tour. Very nice riding tire both on pavement and on packed stone rail trail (Katy Trail). Feels like tire has a better grip than the Continentals. The reflective sidewall shows up extremely well. Marathon is much cheaper than the Continentals too. I recommend this for anyone needing a 27 tire for loaded touring or softer paths or gravel.

Thank you for your feedback.

Good tread, but overpriced and out of round. Doesn't live up to the original Marathon tires

I bought these in 2009 and have had some real headaches with these tires. I bought them based on the great experience I had with the original Schwalbe Marathon tires I had on my previous bike. They were 700 x 32 and they were fantastic in every way. They wore forever, rode smooth and were perfectly round. These guys, not so much.

I bought a pair of these and mounted them on some newly built wheels with new Velocity Synergy rims. Big hooks, nice rims, the tires were the finishing touch. I noticed they were ridiculously easy to put on, so much so that the bead had to be finessed to stay on the rim. This was a surprise as the original tires were almost impossible to mount and even harder to get off. I pumped them up to the spec 90psi and rode off. Ten miles in the rear tire blew out. Blew right off the rim. Put in another tube, rode home. That night as I slept, boom, another blow out. You're kidding me, right? Tried again, this time I got 20 miles out of it and it blew out. It kept going on the same spot and ripped the rubber off the bead destroying the tire.

Thinking I had a dud I bought a replacement. It mounted just as poorly as the first two, and with no amount of rotating around the rim could I get it to go nice and round so there's a nice bump in the rotation of the tire. Really disappointing. At least it didn't blow off the rim. That was a plus.

I still had my original series marathons and out of curiosity compared them to the new model. After 3000 miles of riding the tread depth on the original tires was the same depth as the brand new marathons. They were also more pliable even after all those miles. In short, the new marathons are stiffer rubber (less grip), smaller tread (shorter life) and are so cheaply made that they won't stay round on your rim(bump in your ride).

For $30 a piece I want at least want a tire that rolls round, even the Ching Shins at $10 do that. It's not asking a lot.

I'm glad to see Conti is back in 27 tires. My next set is going to be the Conti Tour Ride. They look a lot like the old Top Touring 2000s and they were a fantastic tire. Only thing better than the Top Tourers were the original Marathons but that ship has sailed. It's a shame, Schwalbe had a really good thing going. I'd recommend you don't bother with this tire.

Thank you for your feedback.

Great Tires

These tires have a great feel, wear like iron and will take a lot of road garbage. Recommend these to anyone considering a great commuter tire.

Thank you for your feedback.

They look Great but...

In my area there is a problem with thorns causing flats. Eight years ago after three flats in three weeks, I started looking for a better tire. I found the Continenatal Gatorskins and purchesed a set. After a year with NO flats decided to obtain three mores sets for my 27 road bikes. Continental had just come out with their Gator Hardshell and these were purchased and installed. In the past six years, with four bikes, riding on paved roads, I have had no flats due to punctures from thorns, glass or nails. This past August, I came across another road bike and started a restore project. In November I was ready for another set of tires. First thoughts were for Continental Gatorskins or Gator Hardshell. Could not find a set anywhere at local stores or on the internet. Everyone says they are out of stock but will be available shortly. Well, November, December 2015 and January 2016 has come and gone with no hardshells available in 27. Started looking at other brands and found these Schwalbe Marathon 27 tires that should meet my requirements for thorn proofing and ordered a set. After two days they arrived. They really look great. However, installed with problems. The rear tire would not turn. Had to remove the rear brake light bracket to obtain tire clearance. With the bracket removed there is plenty of clearance but will have to buy another light bracket that will fit above the brake. Front tire installed and seemed to be all right but with the wheel spinning I could hear a clicking noise. Finally discovered noise was caused by the top of the tire making contact with the bottom of the fork stem. There is only about a 132 clearance at the front of the fork and the tire. The small (new rubber) projections make the noise when hitting the bottom of stem. They should wear off after a few miles. The front brake actually has about 116 clearance. Will this will make a difference in the live of the tire or effect the ride is the question. The stand over height of the 23 bike frame is now 33 18l Up from 32 34. This is a 23 Frame, Schwinn Super LeTour 12.2 road bike with 27 wheels. Original wheels are 27x 14 Araya alloy rims and Schwinn Super Record 27x1 18 tires. At this point the four star rating is due to the over all diameter of the tire.

Fantastic quality!

I purchased these tires specifically for a tour because they get so many positive reviews. Those reviews are right on! 2,984 miles from Canada to Key West, and not a single flat tire! Amazing!

Thank you for your feedback.

Nice tire, reflective sidewall a nice safety feature for my son.

A little heavy, but a great tire, and the reflective sidewall is VERY visible, even if not approaching perpendicular to the side of the bike. Bought for my son's 10-speed, primarily due to other reviews and safety of reflective side wall, and seems great.
