I have worn the Symphony for a number of years. I like the waistband, the gripper leg, and the little gel or key pocket on the right side. Good chamois for long rides. I am a road rider, averaging 40-60 miles per ride, 120-150 miles per week.

I bought a few pairs of the Pearl Izumi Women's Symphony Short a few Months ago. They seemed great at first, but, after a few washing (not in the dryer) the Chamois did not hold up. They're still comfortable and I like the pocket on the side, my iPod fits perfectly. I ordered one more later and the seams were rough compared to the others.

These are the best. The only thing that would make them better is if they came in different lengths. I now own 6 pair and use them for my daily commute, fitness rides, and casual riding. They are flattering (if bike shorts can be) and so far are holding up well to the frequent use and washing.

Great shorts, love the little side pocket, orange pad is just the right thickness. I usually wear a large in other Pearl Izumi shorts, but found these shorts a little lose and long. Next time I will order a Medium. A little expensive but well worth the price.

I didn't need shorts, but wanted these and I was right to order them. They are well made, quality fabric, great touches and features. I am 5'8, 135 lbs, I ordered small. I'm very pleased with them.

comfortable, love the side pocket for lip balm, keep you cool on hot days. I ordered a pair, liked them, and ordered 2 more. Has the orange chamois, and i prefer the red - not sure of the name or difference, just fits my body better.
Would recommend them.

i too have many pairs of symphony shorts pre this makeover. my favorites also. ordered the same size as before. the new style is too loose in the waist and legs. no elastic causes twisting and ride up on the legs which led to chafing. gee thanks. bring back the old style and rename this one if pi can't stand to give up this new version. not even worth it on sale. i'll be looking for a new brand.

I own 8 pair of the old style Symphony shorts which were the pre-2014 design. I absolutely loved everthing about those shorts-wide waistband, comfortable leg grippers, wonderful fabric, and stylish touch of color along bottom of legs. I have been riding 25 years and these are the best shorts I have ever owned. I recommended these shorts to three cycling friends who each now own several pair. I can't imagine what Pearl Izumi was thinking with this redesign. They ruined a wonderful short. I ordered the new short in a large. The redesigned waistband is horrible. It does not fit the waist at all. It has a low cut V which offers no support whatsoever. I felt like the shorts were 2 sizes too large at the waist but nowhere else. Who wants bike shorts which offer no fit at the waist? The short has too many seams. The new legs do not grip at the bottom at all. The fabric pattern on the black short is nice but I cannot say anything else good about the short. I planned to return it but had a friend who wanted to try it. She feels the same way I do about the new style. She has worn it twice but will never wear it again. Pearl should not have tampered with an excellent short. They should have given this new short a new name and left the original Synphony short and its great design alone. I do not recommend the new 2014 Symphony short at all.

Love these shorts. I have only ever worn Sigoi and was disappointed in the last few pair I had, stitching coming out so I had to search out for a replacement. After several misses, I ordered these. I personally like the inseam around 7.5-8 and these are just right. The chamois is good on long rides, and the fabric feels nice on your skin. Cylcling in Florida, I look for a short that can handle the heat, these do. Not to mention, they are considerably less than the Sigoi's I was wearing, these are my new favorites!

I use these bikes for commuting (twenty miles a day) but they really came into their own during some events I did earlier in the summer - one of 100k and another of 300k. The chamois is all-day comfortable and the fabric really did help keep me cooler as the temps hit the 80s...
LOVE these...and am going to buy another pair.

The chamois is very nice...wash in cold water, hang dry...fit is perfect!

Every pair of cycling shorts I've found up to this pair of shorts would hardly fit a ten year old, so I was delighted to find a brand name that actually had bigger sizes for those of us over fifty. Great fit.

Like the style of the short and the comfort of the pad. May buy a size smaller next time.

Fits great with a non-binding waist. I ordered my usual size. Like the leg length - not too short, not too long. The pocket is great for a couple bills, a credit card or a gel. Good value.

the fit, comfort and look of these shorts elevates them to favorite status.

I was looking for a great pair of cycling shorts that were cool and comfortable for riding long distances (50 miles) in the heat of the summer. These shorts did not disappoint! Not only do they look great, but they fit very comfortably. The fabric does not chafe or ride up at all and the leg openings have silicone dots instead of the usual wide band of silicone on some other shorts. I found the silicone dots to be efficient and non-irritating to my skin. The chamois is padded and vented in just the right places for cool and comfortable long (or short!) distance rides.

The shorts are lovely...great fabric and style. BUT they don't fit like other PI shorts. I have purchased a great number of PI shorts and they all fit somewhat the same. The symphony is large and loose.....so much so that the legs ride up and the chamois shifts.

I have used these on short (20 miles) and long (75 miles) rides and they have passed the test. Fabric provides excellent wicking for moisture management and the pad is comfortable. And the subtle accent color matches our team jerseys perfectly! Fantastic shorts!
