Replaced the brake inserts that came with my road bike. These inserts haven't glazed over and provide a consistent smooth touch when braking.

I have been using these for over 5 years. Great stopping power in most conditions.

Don't bother with other brands, these are the only pads to get for your clinchers.

I've always had the best braking with Koolstops V brake pads on my mountain bikes so after having iffy results with some other options I went for these for the road. Nice to be back. There are probably other types including OEM that last longer, but these stop with less effort and are easy on the rims.
They seem a little loose in the holders but that's just as well as you don't have to struggle to get them in and out. This means you're more likely to pull them and clean the grit out more often.

A great replacement pad for what came on my bike. Quite a bit stickier and no chatter on long descents. Kool Stop is a good product.

I got the salmon pair for winter riding. They really make a difference and hold up a lot better than the regular brakes. Easy to install.

I use these to replace the pads on my commuter bike. They seem to work pretty well in rain and wet riding conditions, plus its very easy to install these insert pads.

I use the salmon coloured variety as they work better as an
all round pad especially in the evergreen rainforest of the
Pacific North West. Don't pick up metal fragments like Shimano
and are real easy on your expensive rims!

We have all used our brakes when they are wet and thought where did my brakes go. The Salmon colored pads are softer and grip better than the black ones when wet. Only drawback is they wear quicker. This is a small price to pay for better stopping.

I use the brake pads on my racing bike they work great. Brake pads are responsive and dependable.

I don't know if wild caught or farmed is better, but in a brake pad the KoolStop Salmons are the way to go! I've tried most all of them and these are the best in wet. (YokozunaScott Mathause is equal.) They are excellent in the dry as well - nothing not to like. They do seem a little wide to me, so it's sometimes a little tricky getting them set up to not rub the tire or drop off the brake track.

Why buy anything else?

I bought the wet compound brake pads for the usually wet Portland weather. These work great in the dry and in the wet. I'm not entirely sold on the little water wipers at the end as they force you to back off your sensitivity on the brakes a little bit. I'm the type who likes the brakes as close to the rim as possible without side flex grazing. That said, they stop VERY well. Much better than the Dura Ace pads and an upgrade for some of the best brakes ever made!

The Salmon brake pads work great on mountain rides... even in dry weather. Even though they wear faster than the black pads, the extra stopping power is welcome on technical descents.

These new pads easily slip into Shimano Dura-Ace brakes. Quick and simple fix to worn-out pads.

I go through about one set of pads per season on each of my bikes. While the salmon pads do wear a little faster than black or dual compound, these provide the best braking, even on dry rims.
Wet weather braking power is fantastic, even with cantilevers. I have slowly moved all of my bikes to cartridge holders, which is much more economical in the long run. I keep a couple of extra sets n my toolbox so I can swap out a bike at any time.

I ride 500-600 miles per month...and change brake pads twice a year regardless of wear... I think pads dry out or become glazed...and I like the modulation or feel of new pads. The Kool Stops feels softer than Shimano replacement pads...which I like...and you cannot beat the price

If you ride in wet weather, you need this salmon softer pad. It does make a significant difference compared to the standard stock-black (harder) pads that come on the bicycle. I run these pads year-round, and replace them more frequently because of the soft composition. But, I like the grab around the rim that the soft pads provide.

The design of Kool Stop brake inserts make it a snap to replace worn out pads. They provide good stopping power. The only negative is they seem to wear out a little fast (the orange ones more than the black pads of course - but overall they wear a little quickly).

I have been using Kool Stop Salmons for years. They are easy in the rims, work when wet or dry and last a long time.
