However, two months after adding a Bafang BBSHD (@ 1456 watts / 52V x 28A) motor I had a serious problem that could have been fatal under different circumstances. I went over a speed bump in a store parking lot and the QR skewers were so loose that the rear wheel came out of the frame and went back in misaligned. I did check tightness every so often and even closed the QR levers with a rubber mallet. What no one bothers to tell you about ebike conversions is that QR skewers are useless / highly dangerous with the added power of a motor. Over a year later, with these installed, I have had zero problems with looseness. Being paranoid after having my wheel fall out (with the old QR), I checked these obsessively at first but they have only needed extremely minimal tightening twice in over a year. Lock tite not even necessary. Now at 1560 watts, still no worries.

Review by NovatoBikerReviewed 3/16/2023by NovatoBikerNovato, CADirect replacement I've had a pair of these on my touring bike for 10 years or so, and they finally wore out (threads stripped). These replaced the old ones perfectly. I hope to get another 10 years out of this pair.

A friend claims this is caused by heavy torque windup from hydraulic brakes, and recommended lock-down skewers as a remedy. The Delta Axlerodz are a cheap and easy alternative to shelling out for a new thru axle fork, are easy to set up, and stay put so long as you adjust the locknuts properly and check them after every ride.

Review by JfromPOReviewed 5/9/2014by JfromPOCycling EnthusiastOregoncomponent streamlineing gem If it isn't there it can't rust and doesn't weigh anything. My old skewer levers showed years of rust and were dragging down the look of a quality vintage bike. Easy up-grade for a small price.
The length range is an issue. The threads can bottom out on narrow hubs and not be long enough for wide ones. Worked for me!

Review by Hyde Reviewed 8/22/2019by Hyde PDX1 of 1 customers found this review helpful.Brilliant! As those across the pond would say...The unfortunate circumstance of having to leave your commuter outside your place of work, on a busy street, leaves you with a palpable amount of dread. These skewers are just a another brilliant level of hope that the bike will be ready to ride, when the time clock expires. Brilliant!

Sleek alternative to quick release Campy skewers that would easily be stolen. Happier than a Tornado in a Trailer park that someone makes these!

Lighter than standard skewers as well for the weight concious. Used on 11 speed road drivetrain.
