I've been using Topeak Road Morphs for road riding for many years. They have never failed me or the group of riders I associate with. Problem is, I end up changing all the flats for them because I'm considerably faster and know the ins and outs of tube replacement on the road. My Morphs mount under the top tube, and I drill a small hole in the handle so it fits on my pump pegged Ti frame. This is a smaller version that I intend to give to my brother, who refuses to mount a pump on his IF steel-CF frame. I believe he will be able to carry this in a jersey pocket. Dead solid reliable - never got consistency with CO2 devices.
I love the pump - light yet powerful. I had no problem getting my tires to 80 psi and probably could do even more. And all that with almost no effort!
Compared that with my old pump where I used all my energy just to hold the pump on the valve and could never get more than 50psi. And once I broke of the valve stem!
The only reason why I am not giving it 5 stars is the pump mounting. It's not a side mounting that is the standard for mini-pumps, it mounts in the center. So you have to make a choice - either a water bottle or a pump. Really? Come on Topeak, what were you guys thinking? Thankfully I could re-use the side mounting from my old pump, but it's not a perfect fit ... I really wish Topeak would provide side mounting, then it would really be the mini-pump on the market.
In summary, if you go for long rides and need to fix your own flats, this is the pump for you! And if you don't want to give up a water bottle cage, you will need to get a side mounting or carry your pump in the pocket.
This is a great little pump......and although it isn't the smallest pump it's much easier to use than other pumps that just clip directly onto the valve stem. I carry the larger version of this pump on my touring bike.
This pump has a foot pedel to hold it secure, a flex hose to keep from breaking the valve stem, a good handle, all the requirement for a carry-a-long pump. Very high pressures are easy to obtain. Over all, a good buy I would recommend to my friends.
