Description

Monstercross, Gravel, & Every Adventure In Between

Designed with the unknown in mind, the Rutland takes the guesswork out of selecting the right tire for the ride. Ramped, tightly spaced center lugs reduce rolling resistance, while a more aggressive shoulder and transition lugs provide grip in loose conditions.

Tervail's 29 x 2.2 Rutland provides a larger volume option for increasingly popular monstercross, gravel, and adventure bikes that accommodate larger volume tires — whether it be for added traction on singletrack, a more comfortable bikepacking trip, or better performance of gravel grinding journeys.

The Rutland's are, of course, tubeless-ready, meaning you run lower pressures without fear of a pinch flat and you can ride without fear of a catastrophic puncture. Teravail Tubeless tires use a proprietary bead material and shape in order to create a strong, airtight seal between the tire and rim. In order to maintain the most supple casings for their tires, Tervail needs to employ the use of a tire sealant liquid. Liquid sealants add a minimal amount of weight and seal any imperfections in the rim/bead area as well as micro-pores in the tire. The sealant creates an air barrier while maintaining the ride quality that can be sacrificed by using a tube or bonding a butyl airtight seal to the tire.

Tervail recommends using the following liquid sealants: Finish Line, Orange Seal, Stans, Slime, Continental, and Hutchinson.

Features

  • Center lugs are large and widely spaced for braking and acceleration grip, and ramped to lower rolling resistance.
  • Transition lugs are spaced out to shed mud; siping conforms to the road surface for increased traction in corners.
  • Side lugs are staggered to provide traction in more aggressive turns and on loose surfaces.
  • Tubeless ready tire casing with 60 threads per inch for optimal performnce off-road

Overall Rating
Love Teravail tires. The Rutland is awesome

The taraval Rutland is a step more aggressive than the sparwood I was running. It's able to handle the dirt and loose gravel with more traction, yet still rides well on intermittent pave sections. Rutland on the rear matched with a Sparwood up front has been a winning bikepacking/trail combo. Go get'em!
