Unique lever placement for dicey fast conditions!
Before gravel ridingracing there was just cx & the short track style nature of that beast means close quarter, elbow to elbow, rubbins racing style of riding where small mistakes &or gains can be crucial to performance.Having multiple hand positions on your handlebars has always been a staple of drop bars resulting in less rider fatigue & another braking position just enhances those benefits.I ran mechanical cantilever brakes wthe mid mount levers for many years & believed they gave me an advantage going hot into tight corners neck in neck wfellow competitors because of the added leverage & control of utilizing multiple hand positions wbrake levers both in the drops & on the tops of the bars.Along came the superior performance of hydraulics but away went the mid lever position until recently wthe GRX gruppo! Now I get the best of both & rail into corners at speed wa balanced one hand down leaning in & one hand on top both braking simultaneously while getting superior leverage on the bar for maximum control in tight situations!
