Reviews
These are the best full size water bottle to keep drinks cold, in my opinion. I have also used CamelBack brand which I find are not as well insulated, and are more finicky to use. I like the easy pop-top better than flipping a lever as on the other brand. Also easy to clean. I also use an insulating sleeve. I freeze two solid (48 hours in the freezer) then drink them as they melt to preserve a chunk of ice in the middle. I refill from other bottles later in the ride. Doing this I can enjoy cold drinks for up to about 7 hours in 70-100 degree days (temps rising during the ride). Without a team car to hand me cold bottles this is the next best thing!
The Polar bottle works pretty well for road or gravel. The valve cover keeps dust and dirt out but adds a step to the hydration process. Use your teeth to remove the cover and then open the valve, drink, and then recover. On mellow gravel this is fine but on bumpy or technical terrain, it's not ideal. The good thing is the cover can be removed from the bottle. I now use the bottles for road riding mostly.
Bought it to keep the mouthpiece clean from gravel trails. A bit on the heavy side. The insulating function was not high priority for me but couldn't find a covered mouthpiece without insulation. Other option would be to wear an hydration pack.
