Designed To Rule The Streets
Anyone who has ridden a pump track knows what bike works best: a single-speed dirt jumper with the seat smashed down and the handlebars up high. What you might not know is the best tire for the job. Enter the Maxxis Hookworm 27.5 Inch Tire. Appropriately named the "Original Urban Assault Tire," the Hookworm rolls fast, but also grips on tight corners and absorbs shock — making it ideal for the bike park or hopping curbs on your way home from work or school.
The Maxxis Hookworm is also an excellent commuter tire due to its puncture protection and minimal rolling resistance. If you have a 27.5 mountain bike that is now your go-to commuter rig, switch those knobbies out for something that will get you there faster and suck less energy out of you. The inverted tread sipings on the Hookworms disperse water and provide grip without adding to the resistance.
Lastly, the bead-to-bead tread on the Hookworms provides a HUGE advantage for urban riding. No matter where the tire comes into contact with the ground, there will be ample traction. With the volume of the tire and the amount of contact area, the Hookworm outperforms its competitors in terms of safety, grip, shock absorption, and speed.

Curved grooved slick design

Good Street/Little Gravel Slick
BikeTiresDirect.com gave me a deal with vip points from other purchases on a tire replacement for my Surly Bridge Club. Maxxis Hookworms look cool, fill the frame nicely, roll smooth on the road, slide a little on the traction sand mounds, but nothing unpredictable, just a good smooth tire.

Difficult to mount or remove
I have a Balany Boost 34mm inner width 27.5 inch wheel and a Crossmax 25mm 27.5 inch wheel. The Maxxis Hookworm tire is extremely difficult to pry into these rims. I've damaged both aluminum rims by attempting to do so. The hookworm is now in the landfill.

Great durable, fast-rolling, street tire
I love the hookworm. I had a pair on my hardtail a couple years ago and they lasted me 3+ years of abuse. Now, I installed a set on my 650b mountain bike as I am unable to get to the trails as often as I like, but I still wanted to have fun on it. Well, the formula is still the same. I've ridden over glass without a puncture, and the grip around corners is still incredible. The width is great and doesn't take away from the "look" of the bike overall. Once inflated to 60psi, I am able to fly by my roadie friends on the down hill. Was super happy with this tire in the 26 inch version back then and still am with this 650b version.

Great street tire for your mountain E-bike
I ride a mountain E-Bike mostly on the street and paved trails. The Hookworm 27.5 x 2.5 tire set weighs more but low friction smooth fast rolling and shock absorbing offsets the extra weight. My ride did not feel heavier and I felt more momentum. The Hookworm tires will make your bike riding more enjoyable.
