I had prior experiences with Fusion 3's and really liked them. I went to the 5's because they were supposedly a superior tire. I purchased two of them on this website. I mounted one Fusion 5 on the rear and kept the old Fusion 3 on the front. Everything was fine for the first 300 miles or so until the other day. While descending a mountain at about 35mph the rear tire (Fusion 5) blew out. I was shocked, didn't expect it and was fortunate enough to not crash. The only positive was that the tire stayed on the rim. On examination of the tire, it seems as if the tire failed right at the bead, almost as if the bead itself gave-way. Then I examined the inside of the tire and found abnormal cracking all the way around the inside of the tire. This is practically a new tire! I mounted the other Fusion 5 on the rear which seams fine but to be honest I'm afraid to ride it, I don't want to get stranded because yeah, with a bead failure you cannot mount a tube either, I tried it. I wish I could post pictures on here because I've got them. Looks like I'll be going back to Shwalbe.
