Reviews
For the last four years, I have been using the Chris King bottom bracket on my Mountain Bike for winter training rides of 42 milesride 4-5xweek. The bearings roll very smooth and the grease injection tool makes cleaning and lubrication maintenance fast and effective. I was churning through a new Shimano bottom bracket about once a month, every 800 miles, probably because of all of the road grit during the winter and the inability to quickly and effectively maintain them. With the Chris King bottom bracket and grease injection tool I am cleaning and lubing my bottom bracket every 3rd ride when I clean and lube my chain. That is about once every 120 winter riding miles. Very nice system. Like it so much that when Chris King announced early this year they will begin offering a lifetime guarantee on their products I purchased a new Chris King Bottom Bracket that I plan to install immediately. What a terrific Company!
Great fit for my steel frame with a 68mm wide BB shell. Fit kit #4 worked perfect for my Shimano Ultegra 600. Used 24mm spindle sleeves and 1mm spacers. The feel pedaling down the road is great and with Chris King on the label I know it will last a long time.
This is a great bottom bracket, but make sure that you get the proper conversion kit for your crankset. You can find out the correct one to get on the Chris King website. The BB is very solid and easy to install. All Chris King products are quality made and will give you many trouble free miles of riding
If Chris King makes it, it will be quality. This BB is no exception. I have one on travel, gravel, and mountain bikes. The bearings feel great, and don't get grunged quickly the way low-end bottom brackets do. I like the grease gun adapter for easy maintenance. Also, the crank adapters are very practical for me, since I change between a shimano 24mm crank and a Quark GXP depending on what I'm doing. All I do is change out the plastic adapters, which takes literally 5 seconds, instead of changing the entire BB. I have a high-quality ceramic GXP BB from another manufacturer, but with this Chris King set up, I don't use it anymore.
I have had one on my Cannondale road bike and it works great. The ability to inject new grease is a game changer. Much cheaper to own than the throw away bearing units that everyone else sells. Great American company that doesn't make their stuff in China. What else do you need? Buy these.
