Description
This isn't your old-style wind jacket.
If you're like most cyclists, there's a reason you're not using your old-style wind jacket more. With waterproof jackets like the being lighter and more compact than ever, Castelli decided it was time to reinvent the classic but with a professional spin. And thus, the Castelli Men's Aria Shell Jacket was born.
This jacket is an impossibly light layer that manages to keep the wind off the front of your body while also allowing ample breathability through the mesh side panels. But what you'll really appreciate is how the stretch panels are used in the sides and on the back of the sleeves to make this jacket fit like a second skin — no flapping fabric, no cold air circulating inside the jacket, no more looking like a throwback to the Armstrong era. Featuring a composition that is light and warm enough to wear for the entire ride in mild conditions, but if you do want to take it off it folds into a side panel pocket and stuffs away in minimal space in your pocket or seat bag.
In case it wasn't already clear, the Castelli Men's Aria Shell Jacket is very different from your flappy old jacket that either didn't protect you or didn't breathe. In fact, this highly durable and lightweight wind jacket is guaranteed to keep you warm the whole ride long. With this much love in one layer, you'll wonder how you ever enjoyed a ride without it.

Reviews
This jacket fills that little niche for chilly starts that you know will warm up and for those big descents after warm climbs where you end up shivering. It's obviously not a warm jacket but the windbreak effect suffices quite well. The fit with the elastic back and sleeves really allows the garment to fit very snuggly . I'm 5'-10" and 150 lbs and I got the Medium size which fits great. I do get a little flapping on the tops of the shoulders at high speed but the warmth provided more than makes up for that in my opinion. The jacket is so light and compact it fits easily into a jersey pocket which makes it a no brainer to take along for these situations. Every time I put this jacket on I think "I'm so glad I got this thing".
A perfect thickness for rides with temp variances early morning - daytime - evening. Also does the job for wind and light rain. Easily stowed leaving pocket space for other items.
Nice flap-free fit as advertised. I normally take a size L but went for XL as it will usure worn over a jersey and base layer. The larger size is a perfect fit with no flapping in the wind.
Fit wells, I am have a athletic swimmer build at 195 lbs, 6'3" 44 chest. I ordered the XL, fits like a glove or a sausage sleeve, ha ha. I prefer the racing fit of cycling clothing.
I pop in it on after big climbs knowing the descent will be chilly. Also good with late afternoon fall/winter rides and the sun sets and temp drops quickly. It cuts the wind and chill to make it home.
Packs up in a small cinchable pocket to fit nicely in you jersey rear pocket. I get a lot of complements on the color, fit and style.
I was originally looking for a replacement jacket for an older medium weight nylon one I have, but when I got this one I decided it was a good replacement for my light weight jacket. It's definitely a race fit size, but has a slight amount of stretch. I am 6'1" with a 38 inch chest and the large fit me pretty snuggly. Since it has more of a form fit, it does not vibrate in the wind nearly as much as my old jacket, and that's one of the best things I like about it. It also folds very tightly into a small Ziploc baggie that fits well in my back pocket. Finally, it does look good with a somewhat shiny gray appearance, so that helps me ride a little bit faster.
When the weather is cold and windy but not so cold that you need an insulated jacket. This works well over long sleeve jersey to keep the wind from penetrating to your core. The vents are large and keep the sweat under control. Then when it warms up (or there's a tailwind) it packs up very tight (smaller than most vests). It also fits very close to the body as advertised and there is NO flapping of the sleeves or back in the wind.
Excellent windbreaker for a lot of layering flexibility. Fits well for 5'9" 150 lbs, longish torso. I love that I can use it without arm warmers, or even with warmers inside or outside the sleeves. The windproof front layer blocks cold wind well, and the mesh panels are cut, stopping me from getting hot and sweaty. The mesh panels stretch over stuffed jersey pockets and nothing binds in a stretched out riding position. The silver gray is thankfully not super shiny like the product photo. It'll take up 2/3 of a jersey pocket and is tiny enough (3.3 oz!) to take to the ball game or traveling. No grippers, but waist and cuffs are elastic and they stay put.
Super light, stow anywhere (bike bag, jersey pocket, or even bib cargo pocket). Wind protection on the front, ventilation material on the under arms, back, and sides. Slim cut. Medium for me at 5'9" and 160 is super form fitting which is great to reduce the flapping. I would size up if you have plans of using this for anything other than cycling though as it's made for on-the-bars body position.

Super clean, lightweight shell cut for cycling.
Enjoy the stretch panels, silver color and simplicity in design. However, a minimal zippered pocket would be welcomed. Then again that would add weight, bulk. Bit pricey.
