Starting with the numbers, The NS Skin Layer is nearly 30% lighter than its Skinfoil predecessor. The Circular Seamless construction is free of any irritating side seams, creating a uniform tubular knit that's ultrasoft against the skin. A new blend of carbon and polypropylene yarn is now used, managing moisture much better than previous iterations.
The result is an ultralight, breathable, antibacterial first layer that keeps your core as cool and dry as possible. I bought a summer layer a few years ago and after many washes, some of the webbing started to finally break down and my HRM put a hole in it.
I sprung for this one as a replacement and I've been wearing it on the trainer, under my winter riding jacket with no jersey on my way to work and I literally forget that it's even there, even more so than my last one.
The fabric is incredibly soft and I like the small touches that they did with the black center line and logo. I'd highly recommend this despite the cost since it'll likely serve me for many more years and rides.
I bought this on sale after summer last year. I have just recently started wearing it as the weather warms. It is a really nice base, better than anticipated. Very soft, disappears when on. Not sure what it will be like at 90+ degrees, but not anticipating any issues. Fits well -- does not gap or stretch below the bib straps as some bases. I was not a fan of the stripe up the middle of the torso, but actually looks good when you partially unzip to dump heat-- not the deal maker, but a nice addition. I am impressed and will look to add another one or two.
