I used this tire for a 750 mile stretch of the Great Divide MTB Route from Jackson Hole, Wyoming to Salida, Colorado. They performed great on hardback, loose, and paved surfaces. I had zero punctures or flats compared to another friend of mine on gravel tires who had so many flats we had to replace his tires in Steamboat Springs. We fitted these tires to his bike. Make sure you opt for the SG2 version for the slash protection. Rolling resistance is also lower than expected. You can read more at biketirerollingresistance.com.

I have had quite a few WTB tires and these have been my favorite - versatile, respectably quick, and comfortable. This is my first experience with the SG2 puncture protection, but has a welcome side effect these tires HOLD AIR! Very little leak-down so far.

I used this on my touring bike rear wheel to ride the Idaho Hot Springs Northern Loop. While it did handle deep loose dirt, it was way too grippy on pavement. It did not feel like it tracked well on pavement or even hardpack. I would recommend this only for unpaved trails where there is sand or deep dirt.
