I ran into a situation where I needed a more aggressive tread on a tire for a mixed surface race, and no other tire choices were available, so I gave it a try. These tires are awesome! Good speed, great traction, comfortable. Needless to say, I cancelled my other orders. I do have a wheel set with light duty 'racing' gravel tires, but if I am going somewhere that I need an all-around tire that is tough and capable, this is it.

The tread is identical to the WTB Nano MTB tire, and they're fat enough to really notice the extra grip vs a cyclocross tire. They're a little aggressive for carving on paved road segments, but I'm more confident hitting gravel descents with these than the file tread WTB Riddlers. I set these up on WTB tubeless rims using Stan's valve stems and rim tape, and Orange Seal sealant. Both tires were easy to mount and seat. One tire sealed up in the first few minutes, but the other needed a few rides to distribute the sealant before it would hold air overnight the sidewalls seem to be quite porous. So far I have not had any punctures, that I know of.

Tread separated on both tires in the middle of the casing. WTB customer service was no help. Money wasted. The performance wasn't good anyway. Sluggish on tarmac, poor grip in loose conditions. Also measured quite a bit narrower than the 40mm claimed width (37mm by my caliper measurement). I had the tan sidewall version, running tubes bc I could never get them to hold air when setup tubeless. FWIW I was also quite disappointed with the WTB Ranger tires that came stock on my Salsa TImberjack. Poor grip and noticeable wear after 6 rides. I'll never buy another WTB tire. Switched both bikes over to Vittoria, my go-to brand, and I'm happy once again.

These tires are fantastic on descents - super grippy and voluminous enough to rip over long rough stretches. No flats, no problems, all smiles.
Also - they were super easy to install Tubeless after installing them, it took only a few pumps with my floor pump for them to seat and hold air.
And the tan gumwalls look fantastic!
Highly recommend.

They are great! I use my Salsa Warbird for touring, commuting, and mixed terrain racing usually swapping the tires for each specific style of riding but since mounting the Nanos all I've had to do to get the ride I want is change tire pressure. Also, not had a flat since going tubless.
Their one weakness is mud it cakes on and they cant find traction but they arent made for it so cant knock it for that.

They're not the low-resistance kings they claim to be, but they beat out any of the competition. Be sure and get the skinwall version, they look amazing.

I finally switched over to tubeless after all this time and ordered the TCS version of it.

Totally underwhelmed. If you live somewhere with soft, loamy soil or don't ride aggressively on pavement they'd be okay, but the lugs are tall and narrow and want to fold over in a hard turn making for a vague, uncertain feeling at speed on hard surfaces. The tread JUST BARELY covers the casing, so on a 25mm internal width rim the edges of the sidewalls are part of the contact patch and exposed to anything on the trail. I rode these tires for 2 weeks and then gave them away. I'd only buy this tire to ride loam in the midwestern U.S. with narrow road rims. This tire does not do well on anything but smooth hardpack.

Review by NMgravelMTBReviewed 6/1/2022by NMgravelMTBCycling EnthusiastTaos,NMFAILEDWITHSTANS after 1 YearThe nanos are great for everything, snow, gravel, asphalt. Great adventure gravel + tire. But Stans melted the gumwalls with a year of use. 5 stars until they stopped holding air. Now only buying stealth sidewalls
