These are great tires for the money. Good traction off road, and very quiet on pavement- I see why it's the tire of choice for the Tour Divide. My only concern is that with identical rims (i30), identical pressure (25 psi tubeless), and both tires being mounted for several weeks, my 29x2.35 Mezcal tire's casing measured 2.34", and my 29x2.25 Mezcal tire's casing measured 2.37". What's with that? Multiple measurements gave me the same result. I have photo proof, but BTD doesn't allow photos in the reviews. I guess I'll just order the larger 29x2.25 Mezcals next time around (Unless Vittoria comes out with a blackwall 29x2.6 Mezcal- I'll be right on that).

I had been running Maxxis Ardent tires for a few years, but they have gotten too expensive. Someone on Reddit mentioned the Vittoria Mezcal tires and I thought I would check them out. They were $50 cheaper per tire than the Ardents and seemed to be rated about the same for rolling resistance and grip, so I gave them a try. I was shocked at how much better they were than the Ardents. I can ride 1-3 mph faster everywhere. The grip is amazing, like being on rails. For my riding style (fast) they are the best tires I have ever ridden.

This tire is expensive but what a great racing tire. Very smooth with low rolling resistance yet grippy enough to do the job even on rather unstable surfaces. They lighter eight, last quite a long time too and are relatively resistant to punctures - we run tubeless with sealant. A good value & a great performer.

I started using these in the Sierra Foothills after repeated flats with several other options. These have a fast center line for road and smooth sections and great grip in the corners and when it gets loose. Best of all they handle the sharp rock, quartz and others, that we have in my area. Not a single puncture or slice flat on my first pair.

Love the Vitoria mezcal III. Very fast while providing confidence inspiring grip on hard dirt. Would recommend them to anyone looking for a fast XC tire.

Tire rolls super fast but still grips pretty good in the corners. Really enjoy how light it feels - it doesn't feel sluggish even on pavement. Probably gonna buy more soon!
