I've been riding Tufo Calibra Plus tires for about a month and have approximately 600 miles on them. They were a tight fight on a set of HED Jet 4 wheels, but like most tires, once they stretch out a bit, it should be a breeze to remount them. Although the thread count isn't quite as high as Vittoria Open Corsas, they're very similar to an open tubular. They lie completely flat when opened and feel very thin. Nevertheless, durability has been excellent. I have ridden them on some terrible roads in the Northeast and they aren't cut up at all. I haven't had any flats and they show very little wear, which is a nice bonus for a high end tire. Speed-wise, they're fast tires, though not as fast as the Open Corsas. I attribute the slight loss of speed to the fact that they bounce around a bit when accelerating over rough pavement. I haven't experienced this phenomenon with the Open Corsas, which are a more plush tire and soak up the bumps better. At 140 lbs. I'm a light rider, and heavier riders might not experience this issue. I run both the Vittorias and Tufos at 90-95 psi with ultra light butyl tubes. On the whole, I think that the Tufos are an excellent choice and at about half the price of most race tires, they are a really good deal and definitely worth a try.

At first I was skeptical buying the Tufo Clincher, did't know Tufo offered a clincher tire and could not find any reviews online. BTD had an awesome deal on them and I thought I would give them a try. My skepitism grew when I unwrapped them. Side walls seemed paper thin, probably the reason for the very low weight of the tire. I ride in the L.A. area, lots of pot holes and debris. Have already picked out two tiny pieces of glass from the tires, no punctures which makes me confident the puncture resistance of the tires are good. I inflate them to 120 psi, max. is 145 psi, but at 145 they have a very harsh ride. I prefer to inflate to 120 psi, where I find them to roll fast, very good grip and responsive. It is too early to give a full review, because I only have 320 miles on them, so puncture resistance and wear and overall experience I will provide later, however I will use the tires for Crit training and my long weekend rides.

Smooth, fast, good grip, 110 psi for me. Wears well. Tight fit.

I have to share this story. On Friday 7-31 I was on my normal ride to Newport Beach on P.C.H. Car traffic forced me over and I had to ride through about 20 feet of shattered tempered glass. I made myself as light as I could and hoped for the best. I thought for sure I'd have two flats and be calling for a ride home. After careful inspection I found only one small superficial (about 2mm long) cut on the rear tire. That's it. Rode 40 miles that day, and 35 more on Sunday, with no change in the size of the cut.

I've tried tires from all the usual suspects, and I have to say that Tufo has impressed me with this tire. I ride mostly in Orange County on bike lanes free of debris, and P.C.H., which at times is befouled with all kinds of tire shredding garbage. My last set of tires, Vittoria slicks, were cut up after only a few hundred miles. These Tufos still look brand new after the same amount of mileage and are by and far the most comfortable set of tires I have used to date.

Low weight as advertised. Avg effort to mount. Too soon to rate the endurance or tread life but I normally ride Conti 4000S and Mavic Links which work fine here in San Diego county. These tires seem (so far) as good. If you can get these on sale from Western, give them a try.
