I purchased a 'spare' battery in the event that I ran out of juice and was unable to shift. I'm very pleased with the performance and would definitely recommend them to others.

SRAM front and rear derailleurs don't come with batteries most of the time. I converted my TT bike from mechanical to wireless shifting and needed one more battery to complete the set up. It's nice that these are standard and can be moved between bikes so you don't need to have a bunch of them. I have another one on my AXS XPLR dropper post that I move to the TT Bike when I'm going to ride it now, or back when I'm using the gravel bike.

Don't get the Amazon knock offs as they don't last and are unreliable. The original is best and lasts hours on my x01 transmission and my AXS dropper. It's also small enough to put in your bag or even wrap around your frame.

I got another battery for when I go for some really long rides up in the hills. Just a peace of mind purchase an easy charge too.

The only weak spot, as mentioned numerous times, is the tab holding the battery in place. Use super glue sparingly to repair. Has lasted several years on all three batteries.

I've never had a battery on eTap run out of juice on the road, but with some longer multi-day tours coming up (with no easy access to recharging), a spare seemed a good idea. I also carry an extra pair of CR3032 button cells just in case a shift lever battery goes out.
