Good, but needs a better head design

I bought this pump for the larger gauge and assumed that it would be good quality. The pump is lightweight, compact, and pumps well. As a road bike rider, the larger, non-linear gauge is of limited value (except for the larger size) as the more detailed pressure reading stops after 30 psi. Regarding the head, I hate it. My other pump has a head where the lock lever is mounted to the side and works great. The way the Silca head is designed I find that I am always pinching my fingers when I snap the lever to release. Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't get use to it. Finally I broke down and bought the Silca Hiro V.2 side lever head. This combination works great, but the pump/Hiro head is way too much $$. I could only recommend buying the pump/Hiro head on sale which I did.

Thank you for your feedback.

I don't get it

I bought this pump because with my old pump was inaccurate and didn't have a bleed button, so I had to overfill the tires then use an AccuGage with a bleed button to get down to the right pressure. I figured this would do that job with a single tool. Unfortunately, several things about this pump prevent that.

First, it's very hard to get the chuck off the valve without letting a good amount of air out. It's just hard to get off the valve and as soon as you disengage the lever to unlock it, air starts pouring out. It's easy to lose 4-5 PSI just getting the chuck off. Sometimes I can get it out and not lose much, but not consistently.

Second, the bleed valve is right where your hand goes when you're trying to remove the chuck, and the bleed button is VERY sensitive. If you breathe on it, it lets air out. So removing the chuck is even harder because I can't wrap my hand around it.

Third, as I said, the bleed button is sensitive. I had my tires at 25 PSI, then touched the bleed button for as short a time as I could and lost 1 whole PSI. I don't even know how it's letting out that much air so quickly. With my AccuGages I have to hold the button down for at least 1 whole second to let that much air out, which is how I want it to work.

Fourth, the gauge is not accurate. I compared using two different AccuGages and they both read about 5 PSI lower than this pump when pressure was being read by the second stage gauge. The first stage gauge agreed with both AccuGages, however.

The good things about this pump is that it's Silca, so the construction is quality. I don't agree that this pump seems fragile, which I see called out in some other reviews. It also does do a nice job of actually inflating the tires. It certainly fills my tires in fewer pumps than my old pump.

Thank you for your feedback.

Great Offroad Bike Pump

I've always had cheap pumps in the past. I decided the extra step of pumping a tire past the gauge and using an electric pressure gauge to drop it down was annoying. This pump is exceptionally accurate and perfect for my commuter, mountain, and gravel bike tires. Glad I own this!

Great pump

The 0-30 psi has half psi increments and is accurate when checked against my digital pressure gage. Solid base. The internals are plastic but covered by the solid green base foot stomps. Should be pretty safe if you happen to be careless with knocking over your pump or packing poorly.

Pricey but worth it

Yes it's more expensive than your run of the mill bike pump - but it is a quality made product that should last a very long time. Purchasing one will be a wise economic decision in the long run. The pump works great (less work than smaller pumps) and the pressure gauge is easy to read. As NY TIme's Wirecutter rightly states, it it the best bike pump on the market.

So far so great!

Yes, it's expensive, but as they say "Buy once, cry once". I can tell that this is the last floor pump I'll ever need to purchase. People complain about the metal chuck marring the paint on the cylinder. Armed with this knowledge I just applied a two inch piece of leftover frame wrap in this spot... problem solved.

The best pump!

This pump is great. Large numbers on the dial. Stops at a reasonable PSI instead of going up to the 200s. Chuck locks on to valve tightly and there is no air leakage.

Best floor pump I have ever used

I have used a number of pumps over the years and the Silca Terra floor pump is the best one that I have found. Get a good tight seal every time and inflates tires quickly with few pumps. It also is a very nice looking pump. It is fairly expensive for a floor pump, but worth it.

It's a decent pump

The pump is light, the thin aluminum base accounts for that but it also looks like it may snap if it was dropped. Hopefully its stronger than it looks and a good alloy was used. The valve works very nice and makes quick work of connecting and disconnecting from the presto valve with no issues. Gauge is easy to read due to its size.

Superb pump

Really an excellent pump. Very precise at lower PSI where other pumps are less accurate. Quality of the construction is top notch too.

Excellent pump

Really well made and easy to use. Love the ability to dial in lower pressures for gravel riding.

Great gauge

The main selling point of this pump is the two stage gauge, and it does work as advertised. I find it a lot easier to read lower air pressures, and it really lets you fine tune down to <1lbs. My only complaint is that the lever requires a lot of force. I cannot operate it reliably without losing questionable amount of air, which is only something to mention because the gauge is so accurate. My solution is to not use it at all and just hold the head in place. This makes pumping one handed a little awkward, but this way I can remove the head with almost no air loss. If I remove, add back, remove, etc several times, I am losing quite a bit less than half a pound each time. I think that is remarkable. This is important where I put as little as 19lbs in my MTB tires and need a reliable measurement.

Thank you for your feedback.

I'm slightly disappointed in this pump.

I bought this after a review rated it the best pump. The clamp which tightens around the stem takes two hands to set into place. It's very stiff! I have to say I like my cheaper Specialized pump better than this.

Decent, not as solid as Silca's premium pumps

A little flimsy and smaller cylinder compared to Silca's other pumps. Lighter too. Not as premium feeling, but decent compared to other makes.
