Good Shoe with Excellent Comfort

I upgraded TO THE Sidi Shot3's after rocking my eRGO 3's since 2013. These are my first impressions after 100 miles in the saddle.

The Shot 3's are minimalist in their design characteristics which seems to be the norm these days. The quality of the shoe is very good. Of course, you'd expect a handmade shoe at this price point to be well built. The Shot 3 is light and stiff as advertised. The shoe offers ventilation in the undersoles and top. The shoe is constructed on a single monocoque upper with no seams which is very comfortable. The ratchet closure system keeps your foot secure. It does not have the arch strap closure which can be a plus if you have a high instep. The heel cup keeps your foot secure, and the adjustment does not require any tools.

All my cycle shoes are Sidi, 45.5 cm. When I first tried them on the Shot 3's seemed too big, loose. I compared them side by side and did not notice any meaningful length difference. I then realized that the difference that I was experiencing was the top box. The Shot3's have a wider toe box compared to my older eRGO 3's. After dialing the heel adjustment, the Shot 3's felt fine. I have not experienced loose fitting sizing issues on my rides.

The shoe does have a few negatives. First, the insole is thin and lacks arch support. The insole is comprised of Sisi's memory foam material. They should offer arch pad inserts. I'll use them for a few more rides and decide if I need more arch. Second, the heel adjustment could be better. I personally like tool adjustment solutions because you don't have to worry about loosening the heel if you handle the shoe with the heel cup to remove the shoe. I know that's probably a long shot. Second, is the weight. I don't count grams like pro cyclists, but the shoes are heavier than a few other shoes in this category. Lastly, these shoes are expensive. I'm sure the tariffs have added $$ to the price. My eRGO 3's lasted 13 years so I had to factor the useful life into the equation.
