Great Pedals

Great Pedals, nice clip action, easy release. Love the tension adjustment, and it is easy to adjust. Ultegra...what else do you need to know?

Thank you for your feedback.

Shimano Pedals

I use these on my road bike especially for long distance trips of 4 to 7 days. I don't weigh 150 lbs so the pedals get a good workout.

Thank you for your feedback.

Great pedals without the Dura Ace price

We got an amazing deal at BikeTiresDirect for these great looking, excellent quality pedals. The Shimano Ultegra line of components is an excellent choice for those that don't want to spend the money on the top of the line Dura Ace but demand quality. The functionality is as good but just a slight bit heavier in most cases.

Thank you for your feedback.

Long-lasting quality

As light and as technical as their Dura Ace offering from a couple of years ago, Shimano's R8000 pedals are strong, light, and reliable. Adjustable release tension is a must-have. Metal wear surfaces will ensure these last a good long while. Are the new Dura Ace pedals worth the extra money? Not to me, but you have the budget go for it. I'm sticking with Ultegra.

Thank you for your feedback.

Excellent and works perfectly

Got this on sale and it worth every penny. With only three contacts points on a bike, having a high quality high performing bike pedal is essential. The lighter weight and improved wider platform allows easy spinning and great power transfer through the pedals. If these are on sale definitely buy them.

Thank you for your feedback.

Nice pedal, lightweight, large platform, very difficult to kick out of even at lightest setting

I like everything about this pedal except its tightness. Pros lightweight, smooth rotation, large platform, excellent energy transfer. Cons It is very difficult to kick out of these pedals. This may be more of an issue with new cleats. I have the pedals on the lightest setting and repeatedly work on clicking in and out. However, I really need to concentrate on a technique that works and plan ahead when I'm going to kick out, because of the stiffness. I've ridden about 300 miles on these pedals and the yellow SPD-SL cleats to date. I've lubed the contact areas on the pedals and pivot point, and have even worked the pivot action thousands of times using soft jawed vice grips. My next option is to try blue cleats because they have less rotation, to see if that helps with kick out. The most consistent kick out technique I have found is to firmly press the front of the cleat forward against the front of the pedal clasp prior to rotating the heal outward.

Thank you for your feedback.

Long spindle makes a huge differrence

I purchased these long spindle pedals. They feel so much better than my older narrower pedals. Love the simplicity of the SPD system.

Good pedals; stiff, wider base, smooth bearings.

I also have the dura ace 9100; these are very similar

Clean design. Light. Secure.

I used to ride Dura Ace components, but Ultegra is so good now that when my old components wore out, I bought all Ultegra components. Like everything Shimano --- they just work.

Thank you for your feedback.

New pedal for road bike

I purchased these after I had bought the dura-ace version. These feel exactly the same. Small weight penalty but huge $ savings.

They just work

This is my third set of Shimano Ultegra pedals. They have a wide solid platform, are easy to clip in and out of, and they are durable.

A Top of the line pedal

I have three sets of these pedals on my three bikes. They are light and technically as good as the best, Dura Ace. It isn't a secret that Shimano uses the same technology in Ultegra as they do in Dura Ace. The major difference is the materials used, Ultegra being just a tiny bit heavier. It is the simple reason than most professional teams that use Shimano components use Ultegra on their bikes. The oldest set of my Ultegra pedals is on my BMC SLR O1 Team Machine. They have been on the bike for the last four years, and have accumulated somewhere north of 23,000 miles. I have never experienced a problem with them in all that time. They are a great pedal that holds the cleat well, but releases easily when they need to. I bought the third set a couple of months ago when I added a new bike to my stable. I have used a lot of different pedals over the years, but once I got the Ultegra pedal I decided that I had found something to stick with. I like the solidity of the platform and ease of entering and leaving the pedal. Cleats are reasonably priced and generally last a full season of hard cycling. What's not to like?

Thank you for your feedback.

Great pedals, made even better

Fantastic value, excellent performance. These Ultegra pedals just keep getting better. The R8000 version has shorter distance by several millimeters between the spindle and top of the pedal.

If replacing older Ultegra pedals, you may need to adjust the seat height slightly lower to account for that, expecially if also putting on a bike with 172.5 mm cranks vs. prior bike of 170mm and older Ultegra pedals. The combon difference in height adjustment is 5-6 mm, which is noticeable. Ask me how I know this... lived it.
